Amrita Ollek

Amrita Olleck was in to long arm quilt her awesome little quilt she pieced using fabrics from Tula Pink, Kaffe Fassett and more.
Amrita is a firm believer of using the computer system to quilt her projects and have them always turn out absolutely perfect! Bill was her helper on this one and it turned out just gorgeous.
Fireside was the backing of choice and the edge to edge design was called Time Warp. I didn't think I would like the design that much as it is a modern design but guess what? I loved It! Am I becoming more modern?? A whole new woman!
Thank you to Amrita for sharing your quilt story with us all!

Merle Dreyer.

Merle Dreyer made the trip in from out Lilloett way to quilt her gorgeous Unicorn quilt this week. Don't you just love those bright colours and happy sunny look to the quilt?
Merle did a great effort on quilting the quilt using the computer program with help from Lori Dewart for awesome results! Merle was here for 10 am and was done by early afternoon. No glitches, no frustrations, just smooth sailing with Glide thread!
Thank you to Merle for sharing your talents and creativity with us all!

Heather Nymeyer

Heather Nymeyer was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous quilt she made in a stained glass look. This one has all sorts of themed fabrics and to bring it all together was a bit of a challenge.
Heather nailed it with a dark sashing and the dark brown border is just perfect. As the quilt was pretty busy and the fabrics so diverse she really did not want the quilting to be another component.
No question....she wanted the computer. So much easier on the body and guess what? It is perfect every time! Bill was there to help her and with Glide thread and a edge to edge design called Bauhaus she was thrilled with the outcome!
Thank you to Heather for sharing your quilt journey with everyone!

UFO Days Quiltworx

We realize that many of you have Quiltworx UFO projects that live in bins in your sewing rooms and need to get finished. But how to finish? I can't even remember what I am supposed to do to finish!!!
Anne Hall is offering a 2 day UFO class on the 3rd and 4th of July. Cost of the class is $60 per day or $100 for both. We do apologize for the short notice but trying to get everything to fit is not for the faint of heart. You will need to bring all your parts as all students may be working on different projects. There will be no supply list. When you originally take a class from Anne she does give you a supply list which you can work from to ensure you have those important parts.
You can call the shop at 250-376-7630 or find it on the website. http://www.fabricshelf.ca

New in store now. We carry Quilter's Dream batting! At this point we have the 80/20 blend at 93" wide which you can read about below. We also have a 100% cotton that I found to be so soft and just begging to be touched and draped. Not too sure where my head was, but I ordered it in a roll of 46" wide? I have no idea why I would do that, but it work very well on your baby quilts and small items. Promises from me to you that I will be bring in the wider rolls as well as the poly which I hear is amazing on the long arm. hmmmmmm
As well as the blend and the cotton I have the pure wool. However, because there seems to always be a however, it arrived in twin size not the queen that was ordered. I will keep the twin as it is a great size for lap quilts.
Quilters Dream 80/20 the perfect blend of 80% high grade long staple USA cotton fiber paired with 20% fine denier poly microfiber for a soft, silky batting that drapes beautifully and breathes well. The long staple cotton fiber reduces shrinkage and adds stability so that the stitches can be up to 8” apart. The poly micro fibers add loft and resistance to creases/wrinkles. Our proprietary blended fibers are specially carded, cross-lapped, and needle-punched for strength, consistency, and a beautiful soft drape. There are no scrims, glues, or other binders to resist the needle, so this fine batting can be hand or machine quilted with ease.
You can find the Dream batting in the shop and online at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Laundry Basket Quilts

Mystery Quilt 2021 by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts has a fabulous design for you to do. Quilt finishes at 68" x 68" but we do have loads of her fabrics in the shop so easy enough to make it larger.
I have actually started this one myself. Love the fabrics...like soft faded denims. This is where I am hoping you all can keep me moving forward and getting this one done. I am hoping that each week I can post that section. I will also post with the link for the instructions for you. As well, I do have them printed off for anyone who needs a written pattern.
I am not too sure if I will do the applique or just leave it. Hmmmmmmm. I did my Week 2! Actually Edyta planned it for you to make it in 12 days. I will get right on that.
To tell the truth, I am still on week 2. Got too wrapped up in the Tent sale we had going on for most of the week and just couldn't get to the sewing machine. I need to seriously give myself a kick and get going on it. I am enjoying it very much as it is pretty simple and if I can just stay focused I know I will have success.

Pojagi

Cathy Isfeld was in this week to give us a peek at her latest work of art. This is a new technique I had never heard of and thought you all might find it interesting.
Pojagi is an ancient Korean sewing technique originally used to make wrapping cloths. Today the techniques are used to make many styles of textile projects.
Epida Studio offers many patterns for modern pojagi window hangings. These unique pieces are made with reversible patchwork and look like stained glass when hung in a window.
Here’s the pictures and the information about the method and Epida is putting on a lesson on zoom on June 24th if you want to take that in. https://www.epidastudio.com/
