Hero of the Week
The hero of the week is......Elly Pitre!
I chose Elly to be the hero this week because of her personality. When you come across people in your life that are just "good" people recognize them and hold them close. Elly is one of the most caring, gentle and lovely persons you could ever want to meet.
Elly is one of our teachers and does an outstanding job with all of her students happy and confident at the end of the class. To have someone on our team who not only knows her skills, but can teach others those skills is a gift.
Thank you Elly, for showing us all how to be the better, kinder person. You are an amazing woman!

Heather Nymeyer
Heather Nymeyer braved the snow and came in to quilt not one but two quilts! One is a gorgeous Bargello and the other a T-shirt memory quilt.
The colours of the Bargello quilt are perfect and the piecing is spot on! To help in your piecing of the strips of the Bargello quilt sew each strip starting at the opposite end and you will have perfect straight seams.
The T-shirt quilt is made from T-shirts collected from different concerts the person had attended over the years. Heather sewed them together in a simple pattern to make a real heirloom of a project!

I can't get this photo to go beside the first one....so here we go with the T-shirt quilt. Don't you just love the way she made it all work together with colours and proportion? A true inspiration Heather !

Row Houses bag
I have always loved the house block. I'm not even terribly picky about which ones....appliqued, wonky, cabin, stripped or pieced....they are all lovely to me!
Give this project a try using some fresh spring prints. I plan on making one in my spare time [LOL] and jazzing it up with buttons, embroidery and trims. Of course I am....that is what will make it mine! Why not make one for the quilt show? If there are enough we can have a section just for the house bags....Oh my gosh, the wheels are just spinning like mad!!!!

9th Annual Quilt Show
Quilt Show this year is April 28 and 29th. we have had to move it one weekend ahead due to a booking conflict with the Seniors Center. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
This quilt show is all about you! Think of it as a giant Show and Tell with lots of inspiration for everyone!
I have always envisioned our quilt shop as part of a network of like minded people. The annual quilt show is an opportunity to show what you have done, see what others have done, to inspire others and to be inspired. i hope all of you will have a chance to be a part of a great event held right here in the Brock Center.
No entry fee, no judging .....just fun!
We will start to accept quilts in the middle of April. We will also be looking for volunteers to help out at the show so stay tuned for details.

Antique Sewing Items
The Antique section at last year's quilt show proved to be very popular so we will be repeating it again.
If anyone has anything to show please let us know. It can be sewing machines, sewing patterns, notions or other items of interest to sewers and quilters. We are trying to get a sense as to how much room we will need for that part of the show.
Give us a call at 250-376-7630 or you can email us at info@fabricshelf.ca
