Update on Changes at the Shelf

Bill is going in for further surgery on his foot so he will be out of the shop for a bit.
We are still getting machines over to Hector and Tammy, so make sure to read the blurb I have in this newsletter in regards to sewing machine repair.
I am asking for everyone to please be considerate of the changes coming to the shop. We will be in the process of moving things around and making it easier and more convenient for your shopping. Lots of shelving for new fabrics. Lots more fabric! Can you ever have enough fabric?
Very exciting!!! Imagine....we started with 20 fat quarters on a shelf!

Sewing Machine Service

Bill is having further surgery on his foot so may not be over to Salmon Arm this coming week, but Hector and Tammy are willing to coming and get the machines. We really want to keep this part of the business going and appreciate you supporting us and Hector and Tammy Symes. For you, everything remains the same. Have your machines in by end of day on Tuesday and get your machines back the following Thursday.

Mystery Quilt Retreat!

Class! It’s “mini” because it’s a no frills, non-residential and during the day, to keep the costs significantly down. But the quilt is in no way mini!
We have managed to secure the lovely big hall right across from Heather's Fabric Shelf, and close to the bakery and Tim Hortons for your catering needs.
Only 12 places, this class is taught by Quiltworx CI Anne Hall. Pattern, instruction, and all beautiful fabrics INCLUDED for a 68" x 68" quilt, and almost all of your prep will be DONE! Aimed at confident beginners and above. Two colour choices will be sent to you in advance. There is also the option to purchase Queen extension papers and coordinating fabrics.

Jean Cooper

Jean Cooper brought her beautiful bed size quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her.
She had photos of special pets in her life copied onto fabric and then added borders and sashing to bring it out to this large bed quilt. She backed it with purple minky.
The edge to edge digital design is called Puppy Paws. Using Glide Pearl thread in the top and Glide Tabriz Orchid thread in the bobbin her quilt turned out gorgeous!
Leslie Ford was the longarmer on this one and did a great job!
This one is for Jean's daughter and I am sure she will absolutely love it!

Shirley Chizma
| |
Shirley Chizma was in to longarm quilt her gorgeous half square triangle quilt using all fabrics from Kaffe Fassett. I love deep rich vibrant tones so this one really hit the spot for me.
Her stitching is amazing with perfect points and non waving borders. Shirley used Affinity Rainbow Glide thread which is a variegated in brilliant jewel tones. You can just imagine how stunning that was on the solid black!
Edge to Edge digital design is called Rip Curl. Shirley is keeping this one and I have to say....I don't blame her!

Marie March

Marie March was also out to retreat with us and here is one project she finished up while out having a good time with all the fellow quilters!
This one is using the line of fabric from Northcott called New Dawn. Just gorgeous. Marie is a very accomplished quilter and her projects are just incredible! Nothing scares this lady!

Leslie Heppner was out to the retreat at South Thompson Inn on the weekend and look at what she created in her 3 days!!! She is such a keener! Just kidding....we love Leslie to pieces!
The pattern is Lotus Flower by Quiltworx and instruction by Anne Hall. I can't wait to see this one all quilted and bound!

New Cruise Announcement!
Anne Hall and Heather have teamed up again for Alaska Cruise in 2023! This is such a great getaway as we leave and return to Vancouver.
Have a look at the brochure Anne has created and sign up! We would love to have you come with us on this cruise!
By the way Anne has stated that I do not get to be in charge of discipline......but I am in charge of the entertainment! Which is way more fun anyway!

Donna Fleury

Donna Fleury came in to longarm quilt her gorgeous little Hearts quilt. She created this quilt to give to her granddaughter in a couple of years. Currently the granddaughter has a princess theme happening but will be very excited to move to a new theme in a couple of years.
The name of the pattern is called "Rhythm & Pink" all in reds and pinks. Edge to edge pattern is PS I Love you with swirling hearts and feathers. The top thread was a Glide thread Hope. Hope is a bright pink thread which is just so pretty on this project.
Thank you so much Donna for sharing your talents with us all. Your quilts are amazing and we love having you in for a few hours to longarm!

Wooden Quilt Frame

We have a customer wanting to sell her wooden quilt frame. The frame was purchased from To Be Quilting Inc. in Agassiz. The frame is in pristine condition. On the frame you will be able to quilt small to queen size quilts.
Paper Patterns included!

New in Bliss Widebacks
| |
New in the shop we have several wideback cottons by Northcott. These are 108" wide with a beautiful variation of colours. The one shown is the Teal version..... one of favourites. In stock as well are a good selection of others.
When ordering your wideback we suggest you make sure to order extra to cover any shrinkage that may happen. You have to remember it is equivalent to double the regular folds so there is a good chance it will not be perfectly straight. Usually I add another .3 or 12 inches at least.
Price on these widebacks is $32.99 per meter. The extra fabric (.3) will cost an extra $10 which I think is well worth the cost and not have to worry.
