Suzanne Demers

Suzanne Demers brought her gorgeous Unicorn quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. The quilt is a great lap size good for on the bed or hanging on the wall.

The digital edge to edge design is called Carpet of Leaves. Swirls of maple leaves and a great coverage without being too dense or too loose. Top thread is Glide Warm Grey 6 for a very subtle look.

Kathleen Alcock

Kathleen Alcock was in to longarm quilt her lovely quilt that is being given as a wedding gift. Clear crisp colours on a wonderful mix of background fabrics!

Kathleen chose to drive the machine herself and in 1.5 hours she was done! Holy smokes you should have seen her just motoring along. Kathleen was so surprised at how light and easy the new Millie is to use.

Pattern for the quilt is by Katja Marek. Kathleen bought it as a kit.

Leigh Beech

Leigh Beech was in to longarm quilt her huge Tumbling Blocks quilt with help from Lori Dewart.

The quilt is gorgeous but the really incredible part of this quilt story is that there is no pattern. Leigh found a photo on Pinterest and figured it out. She put her own unique spin on it with the layout and added embroidery to it in the border.

A truly magnificent quilt, Leigh, and we want to thank you so much for sharing your quilt story with us all!

Lindsay Wourms

Lindsay Wourms, who happens to be Terri Turriff's daughter, brought her amazing Halloween quilt in for us to long arm quilt for her. Like mother, like daughter!

This quilt is pieced as well as appliqued and was exception in precision. The edge to edge digital design is called Maple Swirl with the top thread Glide Light Olive.Longarm quilted by Lori Dewart.

New Cruise Announcement!

The only announcement I can make in regards to the Alaska Cruise next May is that it is full! The hardest part is having to wait for a year!

A huge thank you to Anne Hall for your organizing and to Fiona from Cruise Plus for all the help in making this happen! You ladies are amazing!

Now I get my work ahead of me with organizing party bags....we want them to be good and full and preparing to keep all the participants in line! LOL

Sewing Machine Service

Bill is home now so things will return to normal. Or as normal as we get around here.
Bill will be back to heading over to Salmon Arm every week to see his stepmom. He will be bringing your machines over to drop off with Hector and Tammy. Your machine will be returned to you the following week.

RIH River Valley Guild

RIH Afternoon Auxiliary Quilters are looking for new experienced quilters for our Volunteer group.
 We make raffle quilts and other quilted products for sale to raise funds for Royal Inland Hospital.

It is getting close to Retreat time here at the Shelf!
Finally....a class! It is a Mini Mystery Quilt class!
 It’s “mini” because it’s a no frills, non-residential and during the day, to keep the costs significantly down.  But the quilt is in no way mini! 
We have managed to secure the lovely big hall right across from Heather's Fabric Shelf, and close to the bakery and Tim Hortons for your catering needs.


The mystery spaces are full but you can still get your name on the wait list.

Looking for a pattern to make as a housewarming gift? Maybe just for yourself? I have found a great pattern that you may even be able to work from your stash!

Placemats and Tablerunners are always lovely to have in your kitchen/dining room or to give as a gift. Not huge amounts of fabrics, easy to make and quilt yourself and everyone loves a new set of mats for the table!

This pattern comes to us from Windham Fabrics and is called Just Brew It. Try some different colour waves to suit your house or maybe just scrappy! Have fun with this one!
