Update on Changes at the Shelf

Bill has had his surgery and could be home today! He will not be too mobile for a while but hopefully we can do some things over the phone with him.
We are still getting machines over to Hector and Tammy, so make sure to read the blurb I have in this newsletter in regards to sewing machine repair.
I am asking for everyone to please be considerate of the changes coming to the shop. We will be in the process of moving things around and making it easier and more convenient for your shopping. Lots of shelving for new fabrics. Lots more fabric! Can you ever have enough fabric? Very exciting!!! Imagine....we started with 20 fat quarters on a shelf!
Bill, myself and our incredible team all want to thank you for all your support and kindness. We are so very lucky!

Karen Webb

Karen Webb brought her lovely lilac and soft sage green quilt in for us to quilt for her. A simple pattern but great for showing off those prints we fall in love with and don't want to cut up too much.
Karen is a newer quilter and has been working super hard at perfecting her 1/4" seams and getting the points working properly. Someone may need to let her know that we are always in that learning curve! Not matter how many quilts we make there is always room to learn more!
Thank you to Karen for inspiring us all to keep learning! You are such a wonderful lady!

Maureen Coates

Maureen Coates used a pattern called Beach Bums to create these amazing projects.! Let me tell you....our jaws hit the floor!
The picture is not quilted but fused to a canvas artist frame and then using Decoupage and tons of patience she finished these gorgeous works of art!! The attention to detail in placement of the butterflies, dragonflies, fabric colours and more was well worth the effort! Notice the Martini glasses? The more you look the more you will see.
I couldn't get Maureen and both of the quilts in the photo to be big enough but I do have it on the Facebook page for better effect. You can find the pattern on our website at https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/BEACH-BUMS-x52772597.htm There are only 3 patterns left and they are on sale for $15.99.
Thank you to Maureen for taking us on your quilting journey!

Islay Oatway

Islay Oatway brought her quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. Islay is lady who pays close attention to detail. Her seam joins are impeccable, her colour and fabric choices are lovely and her smile and attitude are just wonderful to have in the shop!
Islay is using her stash fabrics so you may even recognize some of them! The confetti fabric for the background is perfect! Love it and am seriously regretting I do not have any in my stash. Le sigh.....
Islay chose an edge to edge digital design called Modern Flowers, Glide white for top thread and Hawaiian blue in the bobbin. Leslie Ford was the longarmer on this one and did great!

Dona Kobyashi

Dona brought her gorgeous Wild Horses quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. Leslie was the longarmer on this one and used the edge to edge digital design called Cumulus Clouds, Glide thread Leather on top and Brunette prewound bobbins on the backing.
Dona took a beautiful panel and enhanced it with borders and perfect choices in her fabric colours. the quilting design looks like dust at the bottom and clouds at the top! How cool is that?
Thank you to Dona for letting us peek in on your quilt story!

Enid Dean

Enid Dean was in to longarm quilt her beautiful bed size quilt with help from Lori Dewart. This one may go to a relative and maybe not....I think it will depend on her thoughts once the binding is on. Enid loves it so it just may be staying with her and she will just have to make another.....pretty sure we have all been to that show!
The Edge to Edge digital design chosen is called Raindrops and the Glide thread chosen is called Sky. A truly beautiful quilt that is destined to become an heirloom!
Thank you to Enid for coming in and working so incredibly hard ..... wink wink....it is so much easier and faster with the computer!

Sharon Gloyn

Is this not a stunning lap quilt! Sharon Gloyn used a panel by Robert Kaufman and created this stunning quilt. Her choices in colours and fabrics is spot on with rich autumn tones accenting all the tones in the panel.
Best part of this quilt story? Sharon made her quilt with her sister Joanne but each project is unique to the quilter. How cool is that? Check out Joanne's version below.

Jo-Anne Rohroser

Here we have Jo-Anne Rohrmoser, sister to Sharon Gloyn. Jo-Anne chose to do hers in purples and blues. It is interesting that both sisters chose a palette from opposite sides of the colour wheel!
Edge to Edge digital design is called Wave on Wave with Glide Fuchsia thread to really add some snap! Longarm quilted by Lori Dewart.
Thank you to you Jo-Anne for showing us your version as well and it is just so special to see family work together on something so special!

Flannel Rail Fence

One of our customers made this darling little flannel baby quilt. She is a newer quilter so is practising her seam joins and cutting instructions.
She did fabulous on this one and even stepped out of the box a little to add a border. I think the border is a perfect frame to the quilt and it bumps it up to just a wee bit bigger.
Edge to edge digital design is called Hip Kitty with Glide thread Cotton Candy for great results. The quilt was longarmed by Leslie Ford.
Keep on pushing and learning and one day you will let us post your name! And there will be a party!

Trudy Veitch was in to longarm quilt her beautiful Cosmic Jewels quilt. This one is a large bed quilt using Stonehenge fabrics from Stonehenge.
Her choice in Edge to Edge digital design was Plump with Glide Cosmic with Navy in the bobbin. Trudy was thrilled with her quilt and to have it all done in a day was just a bonus! Got to love having the computer!
Thank you to Trudy for sharing your day and your quilt story with us all!
