Quilts for Fire Victims 2021

As I am sure you will have all heard about the devastating fires in our area. The entire town of Lytton is gone! This is just so unbelievable! My heart is breaking for the people of Lytton.
As a quilter this is our way of showing we care and want to reach out. Our shop and Katja's Quilt shop in Kamloops are drop off places for the quilts. With help from Marg Johnson and her crew we are collecting quilts to be distributed to all the fire victims.
I want to thank so many people and groups that have sent quilts from Ontario, Mayne Island, Alberta, the USA, Fernie, Castlegar, Jaffray, Vancouver Island, the lower mainland and more. You are each and every one very special people and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Sometimes when it seems the darkest of times the brightest lights will shine.
You can drop your finished a quilt off at our shop or Katja's Quilt Shop anytime during business hours. We will be collecting over the next several weeks. We thank you so much for your caring and generosity at this challenging time.
I am posting photos of the quilt recipients on our Facebook page so keep an eye on what is going on there. The smiles on peoples faces makes this all so worth while.
You can contact Marg Johnson at 250-372-3194 or myself at the shop 250-376-7630.

Heather is back in the building!

I am back from my week away to Honeymoon Bay on Vancouver Island. What a fantastic holiday I had. I ate, sewed, ate more, soaked in the hot tub, ate, went for walks down to the lake, ate and had a wonderful day with my daughter showing me the sights in Victoria.
I have no pictures of what happened in the shop last week so I do apologize for that. I know how much you all look forward to seeing what everyone has been up to. Hopefully next week we will have loads to show.
Picture is of the retreat centre we stayed at with beautiful gardens, clear blue skies and the best customer service ever! There is another quilt retreat at Honeymoon Bay and I believe there are still spots open. It is with Anne Hall a certified instructor for Quiltworx. Check out her website for more information and give yourself a treat! http://www.sewpeaceful.com

Jeannette MacKenzie

We do have a photo of Jeannette in her gorgeous new top that Sandra O'Reilly made using the batik knit fabric we have in stock.
The fabric is a fabulous weight of handpainted knit fabric in the most amazing colours ever! The width on the fabric is 72" which makes it so much easier to fit the pattern pieces on.
If you are getting a bit of a garment sewing itch and want to make something simple and unique, take a look at what we have for the knit fabrics. The colours and feel of the fabric is just begging to be petted.
I should make Jeannette a placard that she can wear around her neck stating that no petting is allowed! LOL
Thank you to Sandra for sending me the photo and to Jeannette for being our fashion model for the week!

Celebration Tree Skirt Class

We have a new class to announce coming this September 18, 19 and 20th. This class is taught by Anne Hall, a CI for Quiltworx so you know that you are getting topnotch instruction and help.
You will have opportunity to custom design your own tree skirt with your colour choices. Custom colourways if ordered at time of booking UP TO 18th August. You will get to see the colourway before the kit is cut so that you can tweak it. It would be helpful if you choose ONE focus fabric that you would like in your quilt from Heather’s store. Preferably batiks due to some skinny points, but they don’t have to be. You can also opt to make a smaller tree skirt as this one is quilt large, 60". Just let us know what you want and we will do our best to accommodate.
The cost of the class is $295 for all three days and includes the pattern with foundation papers. Times are 9:30 to 5 each day.
You can give us a call at 250-376-7630 or you can sign up on the website at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Sewing Machine Repair

A few changes for the Sewing Machine Repair program.
You will still bring your machine in for a Wednesday and you will still get your machine back the following week. Bill will bring your machines out to Salmon Arm where Hector and Tammy are on Wednesdays and will then take them to Kelowna to be serviced. Bill will pick them up the following Wednesday and you will have your machines on the Thursday. Does that make any sense at all? Trust me, it is going to work and will be just so lovely!
Bottom line ..... bring your machines in for Wednesday and pick them up the following Thursday. There, that was much simpler. Sheesh!
Give us a call at 250-376-7630 so I have an idea of how many machines Bill is taking to Salmon Arm.

My Kinda Town

Back in stock next week is the pattern My Kinda Town by Laura Heines of Fibreworks. This is a great pattern to work with your stash using up all those special little pieces that you have saved.
The pattern is a pieced pattern but I think this one just cries out for some embellishments. I know that I have all sorts of buttons, beads, trim and more to use. Now I just have to get going on it!
