Meet Your Neighbour

anne-hall-and-wolfie

This week I would like you all to meet Anne Hall, quilter, dog whisperer, teacher and all round great lady!

Anne was born in Colchester, England and was raised in a Royal Air force family. She attended Boarding school from the age of 7. Anne completed her schooling and then attended Secretarial School. This gave her opportunity to work at several different jobs at Cambridge University, riding her bike to each different posting.

Anne worked for scientists in Ice and Climate including the team that discovered the hole in the ozone layer. While working at the British Antarctic Survey she met her husband.

Her husband pushed for her to work towards her Bachelor of Science degree. All this while working full time, tending to a small child and bicycling to work and classes. Good grief! What a bundle of energy!

The family moved to Abu Dhabi for a year with work. It was while there with their young son attending school that Anne was inspired to go back to school for her teaching degree. They then returned to Cambridge University for furthering her education.

In 2008 the family moved to Canada loving the mountains, rivers and lakes. The first place they arrived in was Fernie BC and they loved it! The second day in town the Anne and hubby were strolling down the main street and Anne came across a Chocolate shop.....bonus!!!! In an attempt to divert Anne, her husband points out a quilt shop.....and the rest is history!

Fast forward ten years and Anne is now a Certified teacher for Quiltworx as well as Be Colourful. Her works have been shown and several quilt shows and are jaw dropping gorgeous! Anne still teaches elementary school math, drama and music but is finding the quilting is her passion now. She holds classes in her studio, retreats at local inns on Vancouver island and now is running Quilt cruises! Next cruise....June 2020 to Alaska!

For more information on Anne and her classes check out the website : http://www.sewpeaceful.com

Act Fast! Only 4 spots remaining!

A new Block of the Month program has started at the shelf! We just love the rich blues and deep browns in this project. One of the most appealing aspects of this quilt is that it is suitable for young, older, male, female, weddings, graduations and more. Not a lot of quilts tick that many boxes, but this one does it all!

Price of the program is a $25 commitment fee and then $39 per month for 7 months. You can purchase the entire  kit for $279 and waive the commitment fee if that works better for you. The quilt is on display at the front of the shop so come on by and take a look!
