Help Needed for Hawaii

helpwanted ‌

I am sure that all of you have heard of the horrific fires in Hawaii in the past few days. We have had one of the quilt shops, Kilauea Kreations reach out looking for donations of quilts or pillowcases.

I have copy pasted the email sent to us:

As many have heard & have been watching,

Our beloved town of Lahaina has suffered greatly this week, as well as the Maui community at large.

My heart is so broken and words can not even express all that we are feeling at this time. The amount of loss is beyond me.

Many many people have lost so much due to the horrific fire that took place this week in Maui. People have lost their homes, all their things, businesses, family members, vehicles, and so much more.

And at the same time so many more people have put their own lives at risk to help.

Mahalo to all our firefighters and first responders and local people who stopped to help.

We at Kilauea Kreations want to continue to help in the way we know and love to help. So we are reaching out to our quilting community to donate quilts or pillowcase covers to give to the families who are in need on Maui.

We as quilters and sewers know that our love, and joy, and good vibrations go into every project we work on and know that it stays with them forever.
Let's join together and share the love we hold in our hearts and hands through our quilts with the people of Maui.

We will be collecting the pillow cases at the shop here in Kamloops. You can bring them in or mail them over to us :
#15-1800 Tranquille Dr.
Kamloops, BC
V2B 3L9

We are not accepting quilts at this time, due to shipping costs.

I have free pillowcase patterns available at the shop. I have been trying to get the link up for you and again running into issues. I will post as soon as I can.

In the meantime head over to the Northcott website for a pattern.
Just type in Northcott Fabrics and then go to the free patterns. I believe there is a search bar you can try putting in Believe in Magic Pillowcase.

Christine Kenward

christine-kenward-rail-fence ‌

Christine Kenward brought her gorgeous quilt in for us to long arm for her. It is a Rail Fence pattern all in shades of browns to cream. When Leslie quilted it it just exploded with texture and design!

The quilting edge to edge design chosen is Bora Bora with Glide Light Tan for the top of the quilt. Finished size is 51" x 63".

Thank you to Christine for sharing your amazing quilt with everyone!

‌
‌

Margaret Stewart-Smith

margaret-stewart-smith-gingko-leaves ‌

Margaret Stewart-Smith brought her lovely little Ginkgo Leaves quilt in for us to long arm for her. I believe this is one of the 3 Yard Quilt Patterns that are so popular right now.
Some quilts change so much when the quilting is applied, and this is one of them. Using Glide Coffee for the top thread added a layer of richness to the quilt.

Leslie long arm quilted using digital design Unravelled for a spectacular finish! This is one of my favourite parts of having a quilt shop......getting to see what everyone is doing!

Thank you to Margaret for inspiring us all!

‌
‌

Charlene Hamilton

charlene-hamilton-blue-stacks-quilt ‌

Take a look at this gorgeous quilt that Charlene Hamilton brought in for us to long arm quilt for her. A great lap size at 57" x 75" this one would be wonderful on the back of a couch or chair, or perhaps at the end of a bed.
Charlene's use of the different values of the blue fabrics was spot on and with perfect piecing this a treasure for sure!

Edge to edge design chosen by Charlene and long armed with Leslie is Dragon Wings and Glide thread Blizzard for the top of the quilt.

Thank you to Charlene for sharing with us all your fabulous quilt!

‌

Barb Haines

barb-haines-city-cats ‌

Barb Haines was in to long arm quilt her beautiful City Cats quilt. This one is from a kit designed by the talented Joni Newman for us. She ordered navy minky for the back which was still not in when she showed up to quilt. She found some red flannel in the shop and off she toddled to go home and prewash. By the time she got home the navy Minky arrived so we called and back she came and got to work on getting this one quilted. Leslie Ford was the helper on this one with Barb and they got on like a house on fire!

Edge to edge quilt design chosen is called Raindrops with Glide Affinity Aquarium for the top of the quilt.

Thank you to Barb for sharing with us all!

‌

Pat Salloway

Thank you to Pat for sharing with everyone! Check out another of Pat's masterpieces below!

‌

Pat Salloway

Here we have Pat with her second quilt to show. With the yellows and blues this quilt is suitable for boys and girls.

The yellow is so perfect as the piece that pops and makes everything else pay attention. This quilt would be a good one for using up your stash!

Thank you to Pat for sharing your quilt journey!

‌

Fabric Search

sharon-eye-blue-snowflake-search ‌

We have a customer looking for a small amount of the fabric shown at the left.
This is a metallic fabric in blues. Christmas snowflake/swirly look.
She only needs about a quarter meter. Anything at all would help.

Give Sharon a call if you have something in your stash you could share with her.
