Cathy Hoshima

Cathy Hoshima

Cathy Hoshima pieced this gorgeous Bargello quilt. The colours make me think of the Northern Lights.

Lori Dewart did the long arm quilting on this one and did a great job on it. Bargellos can be a bit challenging with the movement in the quilt. You want to enhance the piecing and the wave pattern, not take away from it.

Thank you to Cathy for sharing with us all!

Kathleen Alcock

Kathleen Alcock came in to long arm quilt her lovely vintage baby quilt. This one was on a very tight timeline as the baby shower was in just a few days!

Kathleen came in, put the jets on and had it done in just a couple of hours. I particularly liked her balance of the colours in this one.

Well done Kathleen and thank you for sharing. Gave me a chance to see you moving at warp speed! LOL

Christine Drewe

christine-drewe-sue-spargo

This quilt is just over the top amazing! Christine Drewe spent 18 months working on it and I seriously don't think I could do this one in 18 years! LOL

Sue Spargo pattern with loads of applique using wools and cottons. Christine hand appliqued the pieces and then did the embroidery which dropped my jaw to the floor. You can see in the next photo the hundreds of Bullion stitches, french knots and others I had never heard of!

Christine quilted it herself on her APQS machine free hand and was able to accent each part beautifully. Some of the pieces, such as the trees, have been double padded with wool batt.

I would like to give my recommendation of Christine for anyone looking for Custom quilting. She does an impeccable job of it and I know you will be pleased. She has a quilt done with all the fancy quilting and embroidery on show at Thread And Paper quilt shop in Salmon Arm, so if you are out that way be sure to stop and check it out.

You can reach Christine at 250-833-6822.

Nancy Stenson

This one was a very cool quilt to see. Nancy used a photo of a cow as her inspiration. She blew the photo up and traced it onto the fabric and then did a collage method of creating her quilt.

To mute some of the colouring on the cow, whose name is Blossom, she overlaid it with tulle. This one is just amazing and is perfect as  a gift for her brother!

Thank you to Nancy for showing us something so very different and inspiring! Well done!

Robyn Sheils

robyn-sheils-5

Robyn Sheils was in to long arm quilt another of her MIL quilts. This one is just so pretty with the colours of teals and greys with white. Very fresh and clean looking.

Robyn is very comfortable on the long arm machine and can get through a quilt this size in about 2 hours! Depends on if we visit or she gets distracted by fabric.

Thank you to Robyn for coming in to share your day with us all!

Anne Hall and Wolfie

The always lovely and talented Anne is going to be here in this week. She will be in the shop on the 18, 19 and the 20th of August to help any of you with your fabrics and kitting for the retreat at Thompson Inn in October.

So excited to see her again! I have the wine and snacks ready and we will be having a good time as always. The wine and snacks are for just her and I at my house. Sorry, I can't serve you all wine while you are choosing fabrics. That would probably not go well! LOL
