Sue Stewart

sue stewart class quilt

Sue Stewart was in this last week to take the Long Arm course. Sue was so comfortable on the machine that Bill and I both asked her if she had previous experience! Holy doodles, her quilting was amazing!

I love, love, love the fabrics in this king size quilt. Blues and greens with a hint of creams in batiks gave this quilt a lovely peaceful feeling. Piecing was spot on and her quilting is fabulous!

Well done, Sue! thank you for sharing with everyone!

May Grigg

Is this not the best picture ever?
May Grigg hand pieced this beauty of a quilt several years ago for her brother and it has lived in her closet for a long time. She finally pulled it out and brought it in for us to quilt.

We had so much fun quilting this one with a pattern called Funky Leaves and using a lovely gold Glide thread. May just had so much fun coming in to pick up her quilt and I was lucky enough to catch her belly laugh at the perfect moment!

Thank you to May for inspiring us and being such a character!

Kerry Nicholas

Last week I showed you quilts made by Kerry Nicholas using the booklet called "3 Yard Quilts" by Donna Robertson. This week I have 2 more to show and inspire you.

The first one is in black, reds and white. Just 1 meter of each fabric and you have a gorgeous lap size quilt! Pretty sure most people have 3 pieces of fabric in their stashes that would work together!

Only one booklet remains in the shop but I will be ordering more. You can also order it on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Frozen Fountain

monette-powell-frozen-fountain

Monette Powell made this jaw dropping gorgeous quilt called Frozen Fountain by Quiltworx. The pattern gives you a 68" version to which Monette added Queen extensions to bring it up to bed size.

These type of quilts are paper pieced which gives you the precision you will need with all the spikes and little pieces which require so much accuracy. Monette had help from Quiltworx CI Anne Hall at a quilt retreat last fall.

Janet Spinks did the long arm quilting and it is amazing! Janet always seems to know just what to put in the different spaces.

Congratulations to Monette, Anne and Janet on a fabulous quilt that is sure to be a heirloom for a lucky someone for years to come.

Paulette Eccleston

Paulette Eccleston was in to long arm her lovely soft toned ultra feminine quilt she made using Tilda fabrics. Tilda fabrics tend to have a Vintage floral soft look and I am totally in love with them.

Paulette did a super job on the quilting of this one. When you have a quilt made up predominately of smaller pieces, you have to keep in mind that you want your panto design to lock down as many seams as possible. Paulette chose a pattern that did just that and the results are pretty darn awesome!

Thank you to Paulette for giving all of us more ideas all the time. On a personal note I want to thank Paulette for letting me pet her quilt. A lot. LOL

Sylvia Chow

sylvia-chow

Sylvia Chow was in to learn to quilt her projects on our long arm machine. The project she chose to long arm was the perfect size for class and the pattern is easy to work with as well.

Interesting enough, there are no Christmas fabrics in the quilt, but to me it really has the feel of Christmas to it. The panto she chose is called "Seamless" and with using the Glide thread it went so fast and easy!

Sylvia, I love your fabrics and so appreciate you coming to share your day and  your creative talents with everyone!

Merle Dreyer

merle-dreyer-2

Merle Dreyer was in as well to learn to use the long arm and quilt her own projects. This one is for charity and I thinking there is a very lucky someone out there who is going to get this one!

Merle came all the way from Lillooet to take the class and learn all the ins and outs of the process of long arm quilting. We had a fun day with her and hope she will come again soon! Hint, hint......

If you look to why Merle's quilt is so appealing, notice that of her colours she has light, medium and dark. The colours are not meant to blend in this one, but rather be distinct to show the bars off.

Thank you to Merle for spending your day with us!
