The Clear out Sale Continues

The cleaning out of older stock continues in the shop. There is so much fabric coming in and we are completely out of room! We are deep discounting as fast as we can and as room allows on the sale table.

The fabrics are discounted 50% so you will find most at around the $10 mark.

On the Road Again for Bill

Bill is heading out on the road early in the week, this time for all of you in the Fraser Valley. He will be over to the Island first and then work his way back.

On his way he is planning on stopping in the Valley for most of the week to get services done.

Nora David

Nora David brought her gorgeous quilt in for us to long arm quilt for her. The best part of Nora's quilt is the story behind the quilt. It is a wedding quilt for a couple that live on a farm and are getting married in September. Fabrics in the quilt have the farm, a pig, chickens, cows and more! It is specifically made for this couple and I can just imagine how thrilled they will be!

The quilt was long armed by Leslie Ford using the edge to edge design Dear Heart with Glide Warm Grey 4 on the top.

Lynda Dingwell brought her amazing quilt in for us to long arm for her. One of the most amazing things about this quilt is the theme itself. It can be very hard to find train fabric and you often will have to shop at several stores over an extended length of time. Which is what Lynda had to do. The other amazing part about this quilt is that there is no pattern. She just went along with what she thought would work best. I would say she certainly nailed it!!

Leslie Ford did the long arming using the edge to edge design Cumulus to give the appearance of steam from the train. Top thread is Glide Cool Grey 7. Quilt is 75" x 84".

Annette Nicholson

One of the most popular patterns out there right now is "Chandelier" and Annette brought her beautiful version in for us to long arm for her! Her colours are so gorgeous and the quilting brought it to a whole new level!

The quilt is long armed by Leslie Ford using the edge to edge design called "I Dream of Feathers" using Glide thread Cool Mint for a spectacular finish. I think there was almost tears Annette was so thrilled!

Gillian Saunders

Gillian Saunders, a lover of bright fabrics and cheerful quilts, brought her underwater themed quilt in for us to long arm her her. With the variety of bright colours in the quilt the thread chosen is Glide Rainbow which is a variegated thread called Affinity.

The edge to edge design chosen for the quilt is appropriately called "Coral Reef".  This one is a large lap size quilt finishing at 60" x 79".

Lorraine Wieczorek

Lorraine Wieczorek came in for a class to learn to use the long arm machine. She brought her lovely little lap quilt in an Autumn theme to quilt. She made the quilt with friends of hers, which just makes it so much fun! Her fabrics are so delicious you can't help but want to pet them. Deep rich golds, reds, greens and browns all worked together to create this beauty!

Bill helped her with the quilting and Lorraine is thrilled with her masterpiece. Lorraine decided that the computer was the way she wanted to go. The edge to edge design chosen is Joyful  and the thread is Glide Light Copper. Quilt finished at 48" x 61"

Shirley Hucaluk

Shirley Hucaluk was in to long arm quilt her amazing BQ quilt using Kaffe fabrics to their full advantage! Those big bold fabrics just can't be cut up into little bitty pieces. Would break my heart! LOL Shirley created her quilt that is queen size with lots of great contrast and colour. A beauty of a quilt!

Leslie Ford helped her out with the process with a lovely swirly edge to edge design and Glide Mint thread for the top.

Shirley Hucaluk

Shirley Hucaluk was in the very next day to long arm quilt another amazing BQ quilt. This one is all in tropical blues and greens. I love the way the BQ quilts really show off your focus fabrics! I think I need to bring some of the patterns in!

Leslie Ford was again the assistant to Shirley as they quilted this beauty. Shirley always does the bed size quilts and I think she may have found a pattern that works every single time with her choice in fabrics! Glide thread Mint for the top again.

Help Needed for Hawaii

I am sure that all of you have heard of the horrific fires in Hawaii in the past few days. We have had one of the quilt shops, Kilauea Kreations reach out looking for donations of quilts or pillowcases.

I have copy pasted the email sent to us:

As many have heard & have been watching,

Our beloved town of Lahaina has suffered greatly this week, as well as the Maui community at large.

My heart is so broken and words can not even express all that we are feeling at this time. The amount of loss is beyond me.

Many many people have lost so much due to the horrific fire that took place this week in Maui. People have lost their homes, all their things, businesses, family members, vehicles, and so much more.

And at the same time so many more people have put their own lives at risk to help.

Mahalo to all our firefighters and first responders and local people who stopped to help.

We at Kilauea Kreations want to continue to help in the way we know and love to help. So we are reaching out to our quilting community to donate quilts or pillowcase covers to give to the families who are in need on Maui.

We as quilters and sewers know that our love, and joy, and good vibrations go into every project we work on and know that it stays with them forever.
Let's join together and share the love we hold in our hearts and hands through our quilts with the people of Maui.

Scissor Sharpening

Scissor Sharpening by Wicked Edge

We have discovered a fellow in town, Rick Walker, a fully certified, scissor sharpener who will come and sharpen your scissors here at the shop.

Rick comes with 40 years of experience and does a great job! He will even sharpen pinking shears, grooming shears and more.
You can phone me at 250-376-7630 or  email me as well to let me know how many scissors are coming.

Cost is $10 a pair.

Sewing Machine Repair

Bill is away next week so no machine repairs. He is trying for the following week and is hoping to make it over on the usual Wednesday. I will get a notice out if anything changes.
