Meet Your Neighbour

This week I would like everyone to meet Merle Dreyer of Lilloett.

Merle was born and raised in Burnaby near Deer Lake. She attended TRU to become a Health Records Technician and loved her job.

Merle married and had 3 children. She had moved to Lilloett and found a small town perfect for her personality and interests. She currently owns a drug store in Lytton which keeps her very busy!

Merle began quilting with a class with Betty Oswell about 7 years ago. I can still remember her coming in the shop to learn the craft and how excited she was. She was a natural especially when it came to fondling fabric. Her ability to pet the fabric is second to none! LOL!

When I asked her what her favourite part of quilting is she said the planning but her very favourite part is the Binding!! Not many people say that! I think it is because she can continue to pet the fabric as she stitches.

Her goal in quilting is to finish her current 6 quilts started with Anne Hall! I know this feeling well! Anne Hall quilts are addicting!

Leigh Beech

Leigh Beech was in to long arm quilt this beauty last week! The fabrics are all batiks and the colours are gorgeous!

Leigh used Glide thread and a panto called Carpet of Leaves for perfect results. A lovely quilt that will be much loved!

Linda Milner

Linda Milner and her husband were in for her free Owners Class! They have recently purchased an APQS machine and were in to learn all the basics as well as the tips and tricks from Bill, our longarm guru.

Her quilt was in some of my very favourite colours of blues and purples. The project she chose was an awesome one to work with because of all the reference lines available on it. Linda would like to work on her free motion stitching which I have to admit is so much fun!

RIH Donation Quilt

Those very talented ladies of the RIH Auxiliary Quilters created a Whole Cloth quilt , queen size ] to be raffled off. There is bonus bed/table runner as well.

With 580 hours of hand stitching in the quilt it is a true heirloom. I will definitly be purchasing some tickets at $2 each. The money raised is used in different departments of the hospital for equipment.

Joni Newman - Designer!

This is super exciting news for everyone! Joni Newman, a designer for Northcott fabrics for many years now is coming to our shop in September to hold a Trunk Show and then classes in October!!

Her techniques are very unique and her artistry is incredible! We do have 5 of her wall hangings up in the shop but she has over 300 quilts in her collection! Joni will be showing pieced and appliqued quilts.

The date of the Trunk show is Friday September 20 and Sunday September 22. Friday  is in the afternoon at 2pm and Sunday is in the afternoon at 11 am. The cost is $5 for the show........but you get the $5 back when you purchase  in the shop that day!

God Jul Nisse Santa Doorstop

Is this not the cutest doorstop ever? Work from your stash of small pieces of Christmas fabrics or come on in to check out what we have in the shop!

I think I will probably take the easy way and purchase ready made pompoms but you can make your own if you like. Lots of opportunity to decorate this one.

I would love to see one of these done so if you do decide to make one please bring it in or send me a photo!

Look what we were given!

Devona Hay was in and just left me speechless! Hard to believe but it is true. She made this super cute little bag for me and gave us a thank you card as well. She wanted to say thank you for all the help with projects and guidance.

Devona made a point of thanking Bill, myself and all our staff for making her smile!
