Dee Mueller

  dee-mueller-asian-quilt

Dee Mueller was in to take the class on the long arm so she can long arm quilt her own quilts. She did amazing....to the point Bill and I both asked her if she has been on one before! Dee....you are one smooth operator! You should see her curves...just fabulous!

The pattern of this quilt is called Sidelights and is a great pattern to showcase a panel with coordinates.

Thank you so much Dee for sharing your day with us and inspiring us all with your now famous curves! LOL

Ron Methot

ron-methot

We have an older gentleman who comes into the shop all the time looking for wildlife panels. I think Ron Methot has every one we have ever brought in.

Ron is not a quilter but a painter. Actually at one time he was a painter of bridges and other structures. Obviously no fear of heights going on! Anyway, back on topic....Ron takes the panel and stretches it over a piece of foam core or artist canvas and then frames it. Normally he would use driftwood for the frame but with the river still running too high for him to go down and collect he resorted to wood frames.

They are just gorgeous and Ron has kindly let us have them to show in the shop for a week or so.
Thank you to Ron Methot for sharing your talent with us all!

This Tin Lizzie 18 long arm quilting machine is 10 years old, has a 10 ft x 18 Inch pantograph table, has it's own lamp, sale includes bobbins, manual.  I use glide thread only on this machine. Edie Fredrickson

edie-fredrickson-art-card-2

Edie Fredrickson was in to show me her ATC projects. Yes, I had to ask her what on earth the ATC meant. It means Artist Trading Card. These are just the coolest little projects and it was really fun to see something different and so artistic! Here is what she had to say about them:

Even tho I’m not quilting, I’ve always enjoyed the company of quilters, so I’ve been trying to come up with something I could share with you . Yesterday I decided to sew some fabric ATC’s.  I backed them with paper from an old photo album and fashioned them so they could take small photos. So, I’m being just cheeky enough to send them to you without prior communication.  Hope you enjoy them.........I feel better showing them rather than just squirrelling them away. Too bad the metallic thread embroidery and the sequins don’t show their sparkle, the scanner did not pick it up.

More ATC projects from Edie

  edies-atc-her-dad

I have received another email from Edie with a card done with a photo of her dad! I would love to know the date of the photo and is that Edie as a child?.......

So Heather, here is one done on a playing card so it is the right size.  I sewed an old photo of my dad & I on the side I covered completely and on the reverse you might be able to see a bit of the number 8, I don’t think you can see any of the club symbols tho because I got carried away covering it with ribbon, lace with another photo under the lace and a feather overtop and some sequins joining the lace to the velvet ribbon.  Before I started it I scraped some of the plastic coating off the card just so the images on the face of the playing card were distressed a bit, I had meant to let them show a bit more, but planning doesn’t work when I’m making stuff, so here it is for what it’s worth. The really dark patch below our photo is a lovely really dark plum faux leather but the picture doesn’t show it..........it took me a bunch of hours to make.......Edie

Katt Shupe

northern-seas-katt

Katt Shupe was in to show me her gorgeous quilt she made from a Quirks and Quilts pattern. I have copy/pasted the message she sent with the photo as it has a bit of a story.

My daughter is a marine biologist who volunteers with MARS ( Marine Animal Response Society), a charitable organization located in Nova Scotia. She asked if I could make “ a little something” that MARS could use to raise funds.

I was unsure what to make, until I spotted the quilt Northern Seas, completed in Heathers Quilt shop. I knew immediately that this was the pattern I needed to make

The original design includes polar bears.  Since MARS does not interact with them, I needed to change them for something else.  My daughter suggested dolphins.  Although I didn’t have a pattern for one, I managed to design one.

Thank you so much to Katt for sharing with us and I love your creativity in this one! Your daughter will be thrilled!

Anne Hall will be here in August!

  Anne Hall and Wolfie

The always lovely and talented Anne is going to be here in mid August. She will be in the shop on the 18, 19 and the 20th of August to help any of you with your fabrics and kitting for the retreat at Thompson Inn in October.
Please phone for your appointment time. 250-376-7630.
So excited to see her again! I have the wine and snacks ready and we will be having a good time as always. The wine and snacks are for just her and I at my house. Sorry, I can't serve you all wine while you are choosing fabrics. That would probably not go well! LOL
