Sandra O'Reilly brought her gorgeous quilt in for us to longarm for her. Working with a line of fabric from Northcott called Soar she started with the amazing panel and built it out from there. Photo is of Susan Card who picked up the quilt.

The clarity of the colours is so top notch with a beautiful border! Quilt finishes at 60" x 78". The digital design chosen is called Cummulus, which is all clouds. top thread is Glide  Sterling and longarmed by Leslie Ford.

Maggie Pycock

Maggie Pycock was in to show us a couple of her latest works of art she created with a beautiful group of Autumn fabrics.

First is her table runner which is so perfect with the leaves and colours! I love love love the border treatments she has on this one.

Maggie quilted the runner at home on her domestic machine and should be very proud of herself!

This is the second Autumn themed project Maggie brought in to show us. A darling little wall hanging called Cafe Latte with simple stitching and design but fantastic results!

Lauren Embury

Lauren Embury was in to show us her latest masterpiece. She started with a kit to make this lovely table runner. Lauren never does exactly what the pattern says so this is how hers turned out, complete with decorative stitching and a double star in the middle.

Everybody else would have put a plain fabric on the back but Lauren? Not a chance. She made her runner completely reversible! Take a look at the  photo below for the ideas on how you could change up your next project!

Donna Fluery

Donna Fluery was in to long arm quilt her beautiful neutral quilt. She wasn't sure if she really liked this one, but once quilted it is amazing!

Donna chose Wave on Wave for the digital design and Glide Strawberry Blonde for the top thread. Bill was the helper on her quilt and they made a great team!

Margaret Mitchell

Margaret Mitchell brought in one of the most gorgeous all in blues quilts we have ever seen! Pattern is from Laundry Basket Quilts for the 2021 Mystery project. You may still be able to get the free patterns from the Laundry Basket Quilts website.

Finishing at 80" square, the digital design chosen is Flirtatious and the top thrread is Glide Azure. Longarm quilted by Leslie Ford.

Caroline Dennill

Caroline Dennill brought her lovely scrappy quilt in for us to longarm for her. We are so lucky to get to see all these different projects and put the final touches on them! Caroline's quilt is just gorgeous in the yellows, greys and whites. A few of the greys are almost a blue which just gives it an extra pop of colour!

The digital design is one we have not used before called Penny Royal and is just amazing. Her borders have a fair bit of negative space so the pattern worked perfect! Notice the 9 patch blocks in opposite corners of the borders. Love that extra touch!

Leslie Ford is the longarmer on the quilt with Glide thread White on the top.

Yvonne Betker

Yvonne Betker was in to long arm quilt her beautiful Jewel Box quilt. A traditional pattern with a bit of a modern twist with a black solid for the background. The solid black really makes all her colours pop up! Just wow!

Check out how she did her border with piano keys and cornerstone blocks. Really pulls all the colours to the outside and certainly makes it so interesting!

The digital design chosen is Raindrops and the top thread is Glide Tropical for a brilliant blue design!

Weekly Quilting Tip

Today's Quilting tip comes from Susan Collins of Martingale & Company. When I first started to try applique many years ago, I would try to pin small pieces in place. I think we can agree that is not the best or the easiest way to get a good result. The secret to that is so simple and works every time!

When appliqueing small, narrow strips (such as stems), put washable stick school glue down the center of the underside of the strip. This keeps the small, thin pieces from wandering while I stitch them in place.

Who would have thought such a easy and simple technique would solve such a pain in the neck of a problem?

Scissor Sharpening

We have discovered a fellow in town, Rick Walker, a fully certified, scissor sharpener who will come and sharpen your scissors here at the shop.

Rick will be here next Tuesday Nov. 29th to sharpen scissors. Please drop them off before closing time on the Monday November 28th.

Rick comes with 40 years of experience and does a great job! He will even sharpen pinking shears, grooming shears and more.
You can phone me at 250-376-7630 or  email me as well to let me know how many scissors are coming.

Cost is $10 a pair.

Just a side note from us:  He sharpened our batting scissors and did amazing! They are like brand new scissors!

Sewing Machine Repair

Does your machine need a bit of a service? Giving you grief? Let Hector and Tammy take a look and get you back up and running in time for all the Christmas projects.

Bill is bringing your domestic machines over to Hector in Salmon Arm every Wednesday. There is no charge as he is going over to see his stepmom each week.
Make sure you have your machine in by the end of business on the Tuesday and you will get your machine back the following Thursday.

Once we start to get enough machines in, Hector and Tammy will come to Kamloops to do the machine servicing on site that day! Wouldn't that be fantastic?
