Debbie Mason

tiny-and-debbie-mason-004

This time I would like for everyone to meet Debbie Mason. Debbie is an avid quilter that started sewing while in High School. She is different than myself in that she passed the course! LOL

At this point Debbie figures she has probably made about 50 quilts. Her quilting journey started in 1997, when quilting was rapidly becoming a passion for many of us. Her favourite part of the whole quilting process is the construction. It would then make sense that her very favourite pattern is the One Block Wonder!

Just a note of interest....I have never know anyone who has lived in as many places as Debbie! Here is the list:
Born in Three Hills Alberta
Sunnyslope AB
Carstairs AB
Airdre AB
Sicamous
Gibsons
Winfield
Vernon
Squamish
Rosedale
Hope
140 Mile House
150 Mile House
Williams Lake
Kamloops
Do you think she is done moving? Nope....she plans on retiring in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan! For a while.......You may see her back in Kamloops!

  merry-christmas

All of us here at the Shelf would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas with lots of friends, family, good foods and perhaps a lovely bottle of wine!
We wish you all the best of things to come in the New Year!

We are so blessed to have so many fabulous customers who have become a part of our family at the shop. We have much to be grateful for.

See everyone in the New Year!

Donna McCulley

  009-4

Donna McCulley was in to show us her gorgeous lap quilt she made using one of the winter panels we had in stock last year.

Donna used a great pattern to really make the fabrics shine. Speaking of shine, the white fabrics have a tiny silver bit to them and Donna used a shimmery white thread to enhance that.

Donna did the piecing and the quilting, which entailed quite a bit of free motion quilting. Great results Donna and thank you for sharing with us all!

Pam Ebert

012

Pam Ebert was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous huge quilt! This one is a special one for her and her hubby Steve. They just got married a week ago and this is their first quilt for them as a married couple! Isn't that just so cool?

Pam used Vegas Gold Glide thread which is even better.....they got married in Las Vegas! I love the stories that go with the quilts!

Thank you so much Pam for sharing. Loved seeing you and the Mr. Ebert! Congratulations to the two of you!

Janice Gillis

  006-4

Janice Gillis was in to show us her Poinsettia project she made in a class with Anne Hall in November. I love the colours she has in the project and her piecing is perfect! Everything just lays so nice and flat.

Janice's biggest piece of advice for working on a Quiltworx project? Be organized! Bags and labels are the order of the day on these ones!

Beautiful work Janice and thank you for inspiring us all!

Heather Nymeyer was in to long arm quilt 2 quilts last Saturday and they are stunners! She used a pattern called Half Hexies from Missouri Star quilt company and this is the result!

I can only show you one because the program I am working with doesn't allow 2 pictures. Obviously they are not quilters!

Thank you to Heather for giving us more ideas of projects for the New Year!

Shirley Huculak was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous quilts! The one shown is for her husband for Christmas. We had the panels in stock and Shirley thought it would work very well for hubby!

He doesn't read our newsletter [ I am shocked!] so no fear of him seeing this early. I just know Ken is going to love this one of a kind quilt!

Thank you to Shirley for giving us all ideas for what to do with panels.

The star is made completely from Kaffe Fassett fabrics which are so vibrant they just pop against the black background! Eileen, you did an amazing job on your quilt and you should be rightfully very proud! I promise I won't talk about bias edges for a while until you have recovered a bit more. LOL

Women to Women Program

heather-nyemeyerstocking-class-009

This is the Stocking class from last Saturday that Betty was teaching. What  a great group of ladies! The stockings were their choice to keep or donate to the Women to Women program.

Christmas is a time of joy, family and festivities. However it does not always bring the best out in some situations. Financial pressures, substance abuse issues, family dynamics and a host of other issues tend to flare up. We started our program a few years ago to help women in crises at Christmas.

I want to take the time to thank everyone for donating items for this worthy cause. It had me in tears this morning to see all that is here. What a generous and compassionate community we are!
