Sandra O'Reilly is at it again creating her gorgeous quilt suitable for on the wall, back of the couch or as a throw on the bed. On this project, Sandra started with a lovely winter panel and grew it from there.

Geri Auger

Geri Auger was in to long arm quilt her 2 quilts with help from Bill. Geri does a lot of lap size quilts as she finds they are the most user friendly. Everyone can use a lap quilt for the couch or on top of the bed.
Geri used a lovely edge to edge design on the computer and with Glide thread the end result was perfect! The quilts are from the book called https://fabricshelf.rainadmin.com/shop/c/p/EASY-PEASY---3YD-QUILTS- x54442124.htm
It is amazing you can make such gorgeous quilts from 3 yards [meters] of fabric! I am sure you all can find 3 pieces of fabric at 1 meter each and then you too can be a like Geri!
Thank you to Geri for sharing with everyone all your creativity, talents and energy!

Heather Batchelor

Heather Batchelor was in to pick up her quilts that she had us longarm for her. Lori did the longarming and the quilts turned out so beautifully! Can you just imagine the excitement of some lucky kids who will get to have these quilts?
First up is the Super Mario quilt she did in primary colours for a clear fun look. I knew I was getting old when the only character I could name on the quilt was Mario.
Thank you to Heather for a fabulous fun quilt for us to work on for us.

Heather Batchelor quilt #2

Heather Batchelor also brought in this super cute Diggers and Dumpers quilt. Lori did the longarming on this one as well with a simple design to keep the quilt pattern as the star of the show.
Heather's piecing is great which just makes the quilting go that much easier. I noticed right away that her quilts almost have a 3D effect to them. Very cool and there are going to be some pretty excited kids for these quilts!

Sherri Johnson

Sherri Johnson was in to longarm quilt her beautiful quilt she made for a grandson. It is all from photos of him growing up and obviously a pretty avid baseball player.
Sherri printed the pictures from her computer onto Ink Jet sheets in her printer. You can get the sheets at many different places. We are currently out of stock but try Staples, Michael's and Fabricland. The product is called Printed Treasures but there are many different ones available. Lori helped her with the quilting and was a bit dodgy on how it would quilt through the photos but it was absolutely no problem. Sherri kept the edge to edge design simple with Bumpity being the chosen pattern, to keep the photos the focus of the quilt.
This was Sherri's first time using the computer and if fact didn't even know we had the computer on our long arm. She is solidly a computer girl now and was thrilled that 3 hours later she went out with a finished quilt!
Thank you to Sherri for letting us be a part of your quilt journey!

A Call for Help

The Women's Shelter had asked us for help with providing stockings for women struggling to get back on their feet, and wow! Did you all come through! The donated stockings were picked up and we want to say a huge thank you to all of you!
The goal was to get 10 but we blew past that in no time! I asked if they still wanted more and the reply was yes...any overflow they have will be dispersed out to other groups in town helping out.
We can still collect stockings so if you would like to help, please bring your stockings to the shop and I will get them over to the Shelter.
I know the pictured stocking is probably not geared to a woman in distress, but am hoping that you all have had lots of ideas and patterns over the last few weeks and are ready for something new and different. How about a stocking for a pet? This is just so ridiculously cute! Easy enough to personalize it for cats or dogs, male or female or? Send your photos in of what you have made so we can all have a peek at your ideas! Click on the link for the Paw Stocking: https://www.modkidboutique.com/shop/pdf/free/PawStockingbyMODKID.pdf
Your stocking donation can be sewn or bought, but geared toward the women. You do not have to fill the stockings, unless you choose to. Drop your stocking off at the shop anytime during business hours. Thank you in advance for your caring.

Liz Bruce and the restoring of a Treadle

A few weeks ago we had opportunity to pass on a lovely old treadle machine to Liz Bruce and her hubby Dave. Dave is a lover of old woods and restoring items to their former glory. A match made in heaven. Dave and the machine, not Dave and Liz. She is quite young and lovely. No need for restoration on Liz.
Dave did a little research, and found out that just rubbing the wood parts with boiled linseed oil, the old finish would spread and cover up the wear and blemishes. It sure beats stripping it down, and produced a finish more like the original. I think he is almost ready to move on to the actual machine so I will keep you all updated. I meant to ask Liz what the date is on the machine and where it was made and forgot. Will post it with more photos in the next newsletter.
Thank you to Liz and Dave for taking us all on a fascinating journey of the restoration of your Treadle machine.
