Hero of the week!!

heather-1-4

This week we have another duo for the Heroes of the Week! On the Left is Mary Raye and on the right is my mom, Sue Cackette.

Wednesday evening was the Christmas party for the Hospice House and their volunteers. My mom has just retired from her position and was honored at the dinner and presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Mom volunteered for the Hospice thrift shop for 16 years and  it was so wonderful to see her efforts and caring recognized. Mary is the manager of the Flutterby Thrift shop and these two ladies were just a couple of energizer bunnies!

Thank you to Mary and mom for all you have done, continue to do and will do in time to come.  You are both an inspiration to us all on what it means to give from the heart.

Mom....there are not enough words. Suffice it to say .....If I can be half the woman you are I will be so thrilled. You are amazing and I am so blessed.

Anne Redford

Anne Redford was in to take the long arm certification class and is now a qualified long arm quilter. She did this gorgeous little quilt up as her first attempt and it looks super!

I thought  the pattern was a great choice because of all the horizontal and vertical lines to reference from.

She was so excited and thrilled with the end result!
Great job on the piecing and the quilting Anne!

Women to Women Program

heather-7-4

A few years ago we started a program to support women in need at Christmas. We all have so much to be thankful for & this is an opportunity to share some with others who may not be so fortunate.

Make a stocking, buy a stocking, fill with items for women [ mitts, lip balm, candy, hygiene products etc] or donate cash. All of the proceeds go the women in need.

Betty Oswell is back this year with another free project to support this cause. Make this gorgeous Christmas stocking to donate or keep. Your choice.

She will be teaching free motion or walking foot technique and applique. Dates for the free class are December 6, 8th or 11th. More dates will be added as needed. Call us at the shop 250-376-7630

Irene Laird

Irene Laird made these two gorgeous quilts (click the button to see the other quilt) at home on her domestic machine.....and yes, she did the quilting herself on that domestic machine! She is getting really good!

The first quilt is from a free pattern called "Audrey" and the second is one that Betty Oswell developed called "Baby Bricks".
