Meet Your Neighbour

marnie-freeman

This week I would you all to meet a wonderful lady, Marnie Freeman. Marnie is  a wonderful quilter, a creator of memories and all around genuinely nice person!

Marnie was born in Kamloops and raised here as well. She spent her early childhood in the downtown area and then moved to Valleyview when she was in Grade 4. Lots of changes in this town since she was a kid growing up here1

Marnie was introduced to quilting in her early 30's by her friend Lesley Boettger who got her started on a lifetime hobby. However it was Neila MacKee who provided them both with an amazing first instruction and mentoring. Marnies' favourite part of quilting is the piecing. When I asked her why do you love quilting she replied "I love quilting because it is different from sewing. For me, it is the emotional connection that a quilt can provide. I love quilting because a quilt represents "love" itself.

Marnie has her own quilting business creating quilts of memories for people. Started in 2017 the business started as a hobby and grew to be a passion to help people to preserve their memories with something tangible. Marnie offers DIY classes privately or in conjunction with the City of Kamloops. Taking your tee shirts, banners or ? and creating a gorgeous quilt of memories is Marnies business. You can contact Marnie at 250-819-4160 or on her web site http://www.memoryquiltsbymarnie.ca

Quilt Show April 27/28th, 2019

  quilt show

Just getting the word out early for everyone. We are having our quilt show this year April 27/28th.

As always the quilt show will be right here in the Brock Shopping Center, in Kamloops, BC.

Our quilt show costs nothing to enter a quilt and everyone is welcome. If you can let us know how big your quilt is that is helpful for arrangement of the quilt racks.

We would love to see what you have been working on currently or in the past. The quilts shown are modern, antique, traditional and can be bed quilts, bags, clothing, runners and placemats or anything else that you have made from fabrics.

Entry to see the show is by donation to offset the costs and proceeds go to charity. I am cracking my whip, ladies, so you can get your quilts in!
