Meet Your Neighbour

008-5

This week I would like everyone to meet Devona Hay. Devona is a super person with a huge personality! Love her sense of humour! Always a giggle when she comes in.

Devona was born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba and was raised in Manitoba. About 26 years ago she moved out to BC and now happily resides in Kamloops. Devona is employed with the Provincial Government and has a great retirement plan.....it is called quilting!

Devona is  a relatively new quilter having been introduced to this art form by her good friend Lori Dewart. Devona's son asked for a quilt and Devona figured "Ok....how hard can this be.....HeHe. Lori introduced her to the fine art of cutting, sewing and quilting the quilt. Lori did not need to teach her how to properly fondle the fabrics......Devona is a natural!

When I asked her what is her favourite part of quilting she replied "watching it take shape and become something to take pride in". I agree, Devona. As women we are all caught up in kids, husbands, work, and have little left over that is just us. Quilting gives us that sense of validation and pride!

Devona has a great piece of advice for anyone thinking of quilting.."Try it! You will love it!

Linda Archibald

  003-8

Linda Archibald was in to become a Certified rental APQS long arm quilter! She took the course with Bill, spent some time practising and then was on to this beauty of a quilt she made for herself! Linda's quilting was exceptionally well done, which made the quilting that much easier. Glide thread and the perfect Panto just were the icing on the cake!

Linda and Terry posed with the quilt and both look so proud! Thank you so much for coming to spend the day with us and share your project with everyone!

Barb Hollingshead

004-5

Barb Hollingshead was in to long arm quilt this lovely little scrappy stash project she made for a very special little girl. Barb used fabrics she had on hand as well as fabrics from a dear friend who had recently passed, to make this gorgeous quilt with loads of memories and love in every stitch.

Thank you to Barb for sharing your stash project with us all. Truly inspiring for everyone!

Mary Jane Reid

  001-5

Mary Jane Reid was in to long arm quilt 2 baby quilts this past week. The first one is a Half Hexie quilt which she said she had so much fun making! You make the quilt in rows which makes it so much simpler.

The second quilt is one she made from a panel. We all just loved the frogs! We asked her how many frogs she has to kiss to get a prince......her reply? "I am still kissing frogs.......LOL" Keep us updated Mary Jane.....you make us giggle!

Great work on these quilts Mary Jane and thank you for sharing your day with us. Always fun when we see you!

Quilt Show April 27/28th, 2019

  quilt show

Just getting the word out early for everyone. We are having our quilt show this year April 27/28th.

As always the quilt show will be right here in the Brock Shopping Center, in Kamloops, BC.

Our quilt show costs nothing to enter a quilt and everyone is welcome. If you can let us know how big your quilt is that is helpful for arrangement of the quilt racks.

We would love to see what you have been working on currently or in the past. The quilts shown are modern, antique, traditional and can be bed quilts, bags, clothing, runners and placemats or anything else that you have made from fabrics.

Entry to see the show is by donation to offset the costs and proceeds go to charity. I am cracking my whip, ladies, so you can get your quilts in!
