Ukraine Crisis Help

Kellie from Silly Moon has reached out with an awesome way to help the Ukraine in their time of need. I can't believe this is happening in our world! Has the world gone mad?
I applaud Kellie for stepping up to the plate and offering a great way to show that the world does care and we do want to help. I have copy pasted her email to me this morning:
"I know that I have said I will not be doing any classes live, but feel this is a way I can generate some money for the Red Cross.
"I am opening two dates for the circle live class. I will require sign up on my website, as all the money from the class fee will be donated to the Red Cross in support of Ukraine. I would be thrilled if you shared my social media posts on this. I will be offering them on April 2nd @ 4:00 PM Pacific April 3rd @ 9:30 AM Pacific Here is a link to my website for registration: https://sillymoonquiltingco.ca/collections/classes/products/zoom-cheezie-beanie-6-2

Danielle Mader

Danielle was in to longarm quilt her gorgeous memory quilt she created using her mom's fabrics. If you look at the block in the top right corner you will see a soft aqua blue. Danielle's mom made her a dress from that fabric years ago! How cool is that?
Leslie Ford was the helper on this one and they got on like they had known each other for years. I love seeing the connections that happen between quilters. Part of what makes quilting so very special.
Thank you to Danielle for sharing your creativity and your memories with us all!

Verna Miller

Verna Miller was in to longarm quilt her lovely bright springtime lap quilt. Quilt finished at 50" x 65" and is called Blockhead.
Edge to edge design used is called Bossa Nova which we use quite a bit as it is very easy to work with many quilts. Top thread chosen is Glide Apricot Blush with Candy Apple Red on the bobbin.
Thank you to Verna for sharing with us all! I am so in awe of your energy and enthusiasm! You need to give me some!! LOL

Horse Rescue Quilt

One of our favourite customers, who wishes to remain anonymous had us longarm quilt her Nine Patch quilt. This is her first quilt she has made and it is awesome. The quilt is being given to a local Horse Rescue ranch and I am pretty sure they will be thrilled!
She started with a few fat quarters and then went from there. Edge to Edge design chosen was Maple Swirl which was a perfect choice. Top thread is Glide Brunette and the bobbin was Brunette as well.
As this is only her first quilt just wait until you get to see her second one that is in the queue to be longarm quilted. It is gorgeous so stay tuned to get the update on this natural born quilter.

Tara Dempster

Tara Dempster brought her awesome Bargello quilt in for us to quilt for her.The teals and blues were gorgeous with a perfect blending of the darks to lights.
Edge to Edge digital pattern chosen is called Modern Flowers. You know the quilt was incredibly straight because the quilting pattern is very linear. Glide Affinity, a variegated thread, called Mediterranean was used for the top thread with shades of blues and greens to work perfectly with the tones in the quilt. Quilt was longarmed by Lori Dewart and she did a great job!
Thank you to Tara for sharing and inspiring us all!

Paulette Eccleston

Paulette Eccleston was in to longarm quilt her beautiful Sawtooth Squares vintage quilt. The interesting part in this one is the low colour value of the frames around the blocks. Atlernating with blues and pinks it was perfectly set in this vintage design.
As per usual with Paulette there were current fabrics and some from days gone by. Perhaps even years gone by! She used a Glide Warm Grey 4, one of my favourites. It has a taupe tone to it so matched with the background fabrics as well as the star blocks. Lori Dewart was the assistant on the quilting.
Thank you to Paulette for making me feel like a slug! LOL Really though, I want to thank Paulette for sharing all your talents with us and inspiring us to dive into those bins of fabrics lurking in the sewing room and bring them to life!

Antique Singer for sale

We have a customer who would like to find a good home for an antique Singer sewing machine.
This machine is about 73 years old being built in Quebec in 1949. This sewing machine was really looked after, as you can tell from the pristine Condition of the Wooden Case and the great condition of the Singer decals on the sewing machine. It uses regular metal bobbins, and their are 3 Inside the case, one in the machine and two in the green Singer container, along with 4 attachments - which I have identified on a separate sheet Along with the picture of the metal attachments. I copied my singer booklet and will pass that along to the new owners. The machine has just come from being serviced and is in mint condition. You will have a wonderful antique accent to your home, or you certainly can use it to sew on. Just a beauty of a machine!
Price is $250 for machine and case. All the extras included. Call 250-376-0022 for more information.

Update on the Treadle

It has been a while since we gave you all a bit of an update on Liz and Dave Bruce's adventure in restoring a Singer Treadle machine. Liz wrote in and gave me the scoop on all the latest happenings with her machine.
"Dave cleaned it up to a certain extent, but I decided to test out some rubbing alcohol on some of the grungier spots. It seemed to work well without damaging the lettering and it brought back some of the shine. Now it will need some fussy work with the rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs. I think I could get some of the metal pieces to shine again too."
It sounds as though things are moving along and I am pretty darn excited to see the finished machine! One of the best parts of this restoration is the fact that Dave and Liz are keen to clean it up but let it show it's ageless beauty.
Thank you to Liz for keeping us updated on the Treadle machine journey!
