Carol Needoba

carol-needoba

Carol Needoba was in to pick up her quilt that she had Bill long arm quilt for her. The pattern she chose is an edge to edge with flowers and bumblebees which was perfect with all the butterflies on her quilt!

Carol was thrilled with the outcome and is bringing more quilts to be quilted.

We charge .03 cents per square inch so take the width  and times it by the length of the quilt. Now times it by .03 and you will have the cost of having us quilt your quilt. Fast turnaround and beautiful results!

You can give us a call or just bring your top, backing and batting in on a hanger. All pieces separate please and backing minimum 4" larger all 4 sides than the top. We will look after everything from there. No batting? We can supply your batting for you. 250-376-7630

Sue Stewart

sue-stewart

Sue Stewart was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous block of the month project! Sue did tell me who the designer was and I can't remember. I know she is Canadian and will ask Sue so I can let you all know.

We all said the same thing about this quilt...it is just so very happy! We all need more happy right now so needless to say, the quilt was enjoyed by all of us here!

The quilt was quilted using the computer and Glide thread for perfect results. Thank you to Lori Dewart for helping out on the quilting!

Thank you to Sue for sharing your creativity and inspiring us all to keep using up our stashes!

Devona Hay

devona-hay-aquas-and-greys

Devona Hay was in to show us her quilt she made using some of our newest fabrics. Soft greys, whites and aquas combine to make a gorgeous project!

Devona had to pay close attention to her values in this one so one fabric would not take over all the others. I think she nailed it! Her piecing also is just perfect!

Devona, thank you for sharing with us and letting us come on your quilting journey for a bit!

Coral and her Big Blue

coral-and-lori-blue-quilt

Our very own Coral was in on her day off to long arm quilt her beautiful quilt she made for her daughter.

Coral started with a Quiltworx design and then went from there to create her own design to fit the daughter's bed. Coral has an amazing range of blues in the quilt and she certainly used them well!

Lori Dewart helped Coral with the long arming using the computer and an edge to edge design called Diana. The long arming was just gorgeous and Coral is well pleased with the end result. It was such a fun day with all the girls in the shop!

Thank you to Coral for inspiring us all and you just keep going girl! You are growing in your quilting skills in leaps and bounds!

Mary Jane Reid

mj-and-little-girl-floral-quilt

Mary Jane Reid was in to long arm quilt her darling little girl quilt. Her quilt was made back in the day when I was able to teach Stash Class every month.

Mary Jane is a pretty prolific quilter and I am very impressed at the number of quilts she brings in to be quilted! Her Stash is fairly substantial but she truly does use her fabrics, whether they be quilting cottons or garment fabrics. I love seeing all her projects come in the door....it is just so inspiring!

Thank you to Mary Jane for sharing with everyone and especially for letting everyone watch your quilting journey.

Update on Bill and the Long Arm

Bill with computer

Good news on the Bill healing of the foot front! He is off the vacuum pump but still has the boot for probably another couple of months. He is getting around pretty darn good and is back to work half time.

Bill is available to help you quilt your quilt in March or can quilt it for you. I am so proud of Bill for sticking to all that the doctors have advised and keeping such a positive attitude through all this.

If you would like to come in to long arm your own quilt let us know and we can schedule you in. We are taking appointments for March forward. Give us a call at 250-376-7630

In the meantime Lori Dewart and Bill are quilting people's quilts so please keep bringing them in to be quilted.
We have a fast turnaround with loads of gorgeous edge to edge designs to choose from.

Thank you so much to everyone for their patience and understanding as we muddle our way through this situation.

Contest Again!

contest 2

We have another contest for everyone. We have a customer who is cleaning out her sewing area and thought it would be fun to have a bit of a give away! This is just for fun and the prize is you get all the finished blocks and pieces to make more!

I can give you a bit of a teaser...it is enough to make a lap size quilt with the finished blocks using a sashing. The other pieces are all precut and ready to assemble. No border fabric or binding. You will need to delve into your stashes for that!

We just need your guess for the number of finished blocks!

Contest starts Saturday, February 20 and ends Saturday March 6th.

Get your guesses in as to how many finished Hope blocks are in the pile shown.

Send them in to my email at the shop http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Serenity Basics

serenity-basics-by-figo

Just in this week the line of fabrics from Figo, division of Northcott, called Serenity basics. Aren't they just gorgeous?

We have narrow pin strips, polka dots and more. From pale greens, pinks creams and more to duskier shades we have it all! I was so excited to see this come in as I think it really adds something to the stash of fabrics we currently have in the shop.

The Elizabeth Hartmann patterns would lend themselves very well to these fabrics. We have the Puppies patterns by Elizabeth Hartmann in so, be watching for kits  coming!

Check these fabrics out in the shop or online http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Scrappy or planned Table Runner Free Pattern

Down_by_the_Veggie_Patch_Quilt_3_Pattern_05262018_Cover__10246.1532111386

Henry Glass has a wonderful free pattern for a table runner finishing at 16" x 40" just perfect for fabrics from your stash or come on in for some of those gorgeous Serenity basics we just got in.

I am thinking we should kit this one as it would be super simple to do up in a weekend! Of course I want to use our new fabric. I have no idea why I save left over fabrics for my stash bins.

Watch me Grow!

watch-me-grow-panel

New in the shop as well is the line of fabrics by Northcott called Watch Me Grow. The pattern to go with the large panel is called "Churn Around" by The Fabric Addict and is in stock as well.

You can make a Growth chart, a Baby Quilt and a Milestone/play quilt. So lots of bang for the buck! I think one of the more appealing aspects to the panel is that it is very gender nuetral. Boys or girls will suit the colours.

Find it in the shop or online at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
