Meet Your Neighbour
| |
This week I would like you to meet Pat Olmstead, hand stitcher extraordinaire!
Pat was born on the Pattullo Bridge in the lower mainland during a snowstorm!. Really she was! Her mom did not make it to the hospital in time! She then grew up in Surrey as a farm girl.
She was married in Salmon Arm and then lived in several communities throughout BC. Finally she settled in Kamloops and loves it here!
Pat learned to sew and quilt as a young girl barely into school. Her Grandma taught her to do all forms of handwork. She took to it like a duck to water and has enjoyed all forms of crafts over the years, with a passion for the hand work.
Of all the kinds of hand work out there, her favourite is embroidery whether it be counted cross stitch, Brazilian, Hardanger or Swedish Weaving, she loves it all! The process of the creating is her passion and loves every step of the way. If Pat has one wish in regards to hand work it is ...... that there be more Hardanger!
Thank you Pat for meeting us all. You are a fabulous stitcher and we are in awe of what you can do!

Hand Quilting Frame
Is anyone looking for a hand quilting wood frame? Flutterby Thrift shop behind us has one in there shop that they are selling for $100.
I went over to have a boo and get a picture. You could do up to a queen size quilt on the frame. A king size quilt would be too big.
All solid wood and in great shape! If you are interested stop on by their shop and support a great cause [Hospice House].

Diana Hewins
Diana Hewins went out of her box a bit on this one! As you may know, Diana is a lover of Kaffe Fassett. Take a look at these fabrics and you will understand this complete change! A scrap project that she really was not loving.....until she got it quilted. It is amazing how that the quilting can change the whole look of the project!
Diana used a panto called "Flirtatious" and did awesome! This is one panto that I struggle with! I lose track of where I am and where I am going.....this happens in my real life as well....LOL!
Thank you Diana for a fun day! Always love it when you come in!

Quilt Show April 27/28th
Just getting the word out early for everyone. We are having our quilt show this year April 27/28th. As always the quilt show will be right here in the Brock Shopping Center, in Kamloops, BC.
Our quilt show costs nothing to enter a quilt and everyone is welcome. If you can let us know how big your quilt is that is helpful for arrangement of the quilt racks.
We would love to see what you have been working on currently or in the past. The quilts shown are modern, antique, traditional and can be bed quilts, bags, clothing, runners and placemats or anything else that you have made from fabrics.
Entry to see the show is by donation to offset the costs and proceeds go to charity. I am cracking my whip, ladies, so you can get your quilts in!
