First up of New Happenings at the Shelf

In the last newsletter I had mentioned that we have all kinds of new things coming to the Shelf. First up I will now let you know that we have 2, count them 2! new machines coming in to the shop.
We have a new Millie and a new Lucey, both with computers of course coming at the end of February or beginning of March! Bill is pretty darn excited about that! We will be able to have a faster turnaround on the quilts and more openings for you to rent the machine by the hour is if that is your choice.
Now comes the bigger issue....where do we put them? Lots of ideas spinning in our heads so will see what we end up with. I do ask for your patience and understanding as we grow that part of the business and move things around. Who knew we would grow again? Hmmmmmm

Tera Teng

Tera Teng was in to longarm quilt her gorgeous quilt called "Eliza". A little bit vintage, a little bit modern and a whole lot gorgeous!
Pattern is designed by Joni Newman of https://www.quirksandquilts.com/ Joni is currently living the dream on Vancouver Island still designing patterns and sharing her talents with us all. Which brings us to Tera!
We had the fabric and needed a pattern so Joni designed it and made a sample for us that still resides in our shop. Tera fell in love with the quilt and jumped in ready to make this stunner of a quilt. She did amazing with great joins on her seams, pressing was top notch and her quilting spot on!
Bill was the helper on the quilt and Tera and he were quite the team on this one!
Thank you to Tera for sharing with us all your talents and creativity!

Leslie Heppner brought her amazing Mystery Quilt in for us to quilt for her. This one is a 2 fabric quilt, queen size and is gorgeous! Pattern designed by Sharon Blackmore of Love Shack Quilts.
Leslie Ford quilted the quilt with the computer. Edge to edge design chosen is called Diana [ one of my favourites ] and thread was Glide Mint.
Thank you to Leslie for sharing with everyone and your quilt is amazing!
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing a minimum 4" larger all around or send an email to me at mailto:info@fabricshelf.ca

Verna Miller

Verna Miller was at it again with her stash of fabrics and what to do with them? She decided to make a Jelly Roll Race quilt out of her 2 1/2" strips and what a great finish!
Edge to edge design used is called Chantilly Lace and the colour choice of Glide thread was a Cream.
Bill was the helper on this one and along with Lauren Embury's input as well making it a fun morning in the shop. Thank you to Verna for your generosity of sharing your knowledge and talents.

Macaw by Quiltworx

Anne Hall brought her quilt to us to get longarmed and Bill was right on it! The pattern is called Macaw by Quiltworx.
The background is looking black in the photo but is actually a rich navy blue. Clear bright colours to really set off the pattern. Fabrics are batiks by Siltex Fabrics.
Piecing by Anne Hall and quilting by Bill. Binding will be by Heather and Anne as they are on the couch sipping wine, munching on chips while watching Harry Potter shows.
If you are interested in a kit or pattern drop Anne a call and she will get you all sorted out and ready to go: sewpeaceful@telus.net

Paulette Eccleston

Paulette Eccleston was in this week to longarm quilt her lovely lap size Hearts quilt. Paulette doesn't make many lap size so this was a bit unusual for her!
Her stash of pinks and reds came in handy to use up in this simple but effective project. Bill was there to help her using a design on the computer called Dear Heart. That particular design goes very fast and covers the quilt well. Not too dense, not too loose, just perfect!
Thank you to Paulette for sharing with us all!

Marble Essence

New fabrics in the door called Marble Essence by In the Beginning Fabrics. We do have a store sample and kits coming, but are waiting on a few pieces of the blenders to arrive. I will post the pictures of the store sample as soon as we have it.
Leslie Heppner has kindly offered to make the sample....of course I did wave the gorgeous kit in blues and purples past her and she was done! No shame here...she is an excellent quilter and I can't wait to see the finished quilt!
Just an add on note ... These fabrics are an amazing price of only $19.99 per meter! Available in store and on line at https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/MARBLE-ESSENCE---VERONA-TEAL-x61027368.htm

Pottery Maker Free Pattern

I found this free download from Michael Miller Fabrics featuring his Kenya line of fabrics. I do not have the Kenya line of fabrics but I do have some great prints that I think would work fantastic!
The project finishes at 65" x 72" making it a great lap size quilt. You could use any grouping of fabrics you like. Check your stashes to see if you can find a fat quarter bundle or half meter grouping. The largest piece needed is the background which is 2.75 meters.
