Dawn Penuita

dawn-penuita-garden-party ‌

Last week I showed you all a table runner that Dawn Penuita had long armed for her class. This week she came in and long armed this amazing queen sized quilt. she used the pattern by Laura Heine called Garden Party.

Dawn wanted the quilt a bit bigger...okay a  lot bigger...and decided to add the amount to the sashings to make it bigger. She also chose to use vibrant colours with a black background for a totally different look. This quilt got a lot of attention in the process of being quilted as you can imagine!

The quilt finished at 104" x 136" for a large queen/king size! The digital design chosen is Butterfly Waltz with Glide thread colour Mint for the top thread. Leslie Ford started her off in the morning and Bill took over later in the day to help her finish.

If you are interested in the pattern we do have it in the shop as well as on the website https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/GARDEN-PARTY-BY-LAURA-HEINE-x66014542.htm

Check out the picture below to see where she started and then compare to how she ended up! It is amazing!

Thank you to Dawn for inspiring us all with your creativity and talent!

Thank you to Valerie for sharing with everyone all your talents!

Rachel Berry brought her 2 quilts she pieced for her twin grandsons in to be quilted. They are twins so each chose their favourite colours and she went from there. Isn't it amazing how the same quilt in different colours gives such a unique result?
Pattern is called Nordic Triangles by Suzy Quilts.

The quilt was long armed with a digital pattern called Modern Geometry. Top thread is Glide Kiwi. Long armed by Leslie Ford.

Check out the quilt below for the other quilt done in the same pattern.

Thank you to Rachel for sharing with us all!

Kristina Melchin brought her beautiful little baby quilt in for us to long arm for her. She had no pattern, just inspiration from Pinterest. I can totally relate to that!!

The only name we have for this one is Horizontal Colour Bars which is completely appropriate. Leslie Ford did the quilting with a soft Glide thread colour Chiffon and a great digital design called Basket Weave.

I want to thank Kristina for sharing with us all and for showing us how we can move out of our box and try something different just by scrolling around on the internet. Your quilt is just delightful!

It was so rewarding to see all the pieces come together perfectly! Yeah for me!

I will have the board in the shop from here onwards until it is time to start assembling. Come on in for a look and check the beautifully assembled kits we have in stock.
