We have a winner!!!

We have a winner in our latest contest!

A  customer  had donated a pile of log cabin blocks all pieced but not squared. They will square to 10 1/2" .

The correct number of blocks was 48 and Wendy Lebek was spot on!

Your job was to try to guess how many blocks are in the pile and whoever is the closest wins all the blocks!! You could use them for yourself, a charity you want to support or just to look through and have a bit of a trip down memory lane!

Congratulations to Wendy and we will put your blocks in a bag and hang you on the wall by the till for when you come in!

Update on Bill and the Long Arm

Update on Bill and the Long Arm

Bill continues to heal well, but will not be off the suction pump by the end of January. It will continue to be his dancing partner for a while yet. As a dancing partner it is very slender but gurgles endlessly. Thank you so much for all your offers to help and caring for him. Warms those cockles in my heart!

We are  opening up the long arm program more in February with a few times a week for customers to come in to long arm their own quilts. You will have to work as Bill can't be on his feet for too long of a time and we are so appreciative of your understanding.
If you would like to come in to long arm your own quilt let us know and we can schedule you in. We are taking appointments for February forward. Give us a call at 250-376-7630

In the meantime Lori Dewart is still quilting people's quilts so please keep bringing them in to be quilted.

Gretta Popove

Gretta Popove stopped in to show us a lovely little winter table runner. She also stopped in to fondle fabrics but we don't judge. It is all good.

I really wanted to show everyone this project as it is so simple, you can have it done in an afternoon and look super talented!!

Using a border print, Gretta cut it to the length she wanted, joined 2 together, bordered and she was ready to go with the quilting. Pretty awesome!!

Check out your stashes for some border prints to use up in table runners. If you don't have any come see me and I will help you. Gretta has fondled them but she was gentle...LOL

Val and Bill Bissat

Val and Bill Bissat drove down from 100 Mile House up in the Cariboo to long arm quilt this beauty! We really appreciate them taking the time to come all this way to our shop.

Val and Bill opted for the computer to do the work and they chose a lovely edge to edge design called Raindrops. Using Glide thread and with Bill's help they were done by 3 pm. This was a start at 10:30, a break for lunch and maybe some visiting!

The two Bills worked together very well on the computer and Val had a lovely time shopping and watching our TV with photos of customers and their quilts. She did some fondling of the fabrics as well. LOL

Thank you so much for coming down to long arm your quilt with us! You are both just such a treat to have in the shop!

Elaine Stefura

Take a look at what Elaine Stefura brought in to long arm! All hand pieced hexies and it truly looks like a flower garden.

Elaine started this quilt 12 years ago and was so excited to have this one done, but for the binding! The edge to edge design she chose from the computer on the long arm is Bumble bees and it is just perfect!

Thank you to Elaine for sharing with us all and reminding us that it is never too late to finish a quilt. Does that include my Moonglow from 8 years ago????

Woolies Flannels

The long awaited Woolies flannels by Maywood Studios is now in the shop! We were so excited to have them finally get there to be petted and put out for adoption to good homes.

Maywood makes some of the best flannels out there. So thick [ that is why they are called Woolie Flannel ] and soft with cozy colours you will love! We have 2 1/2" strip rolls of 40 as well in the earth tones and the brights! 

The price on these you will love even more! $17.99 per meter! But ...and there is always a but.....when they are gone they are gone! In the meantime I shall continue to love them, pet them and show them to you!

New Glide Thread Display

Exciting things happening at the Shelf! Bill and Brother Mike have built a new shelving wall for the Glide thread! So much easier to see everything and I can't wait for the new threads to come in so we can fill all the shelves. We may even have to build more shelves!

A huge thank you to Lori Dewart and Leslie Ford for all the hard work in getting the colours sorted and threads in the shelves.

Looking for Mikado Fabric

We have a customer looking for  a bit more of this fabric by Deborah Edwards from Northcott called Mikado.The number of the fabric is 20167M-99 and does have metallic.

We have all been in this position so if I can pass this on and help out a fellow quilter that will be a good thing!

TV in the Shop!!

More changes and new things happening at the shelf!

We now have a TV mounted on top of the Wide Backing shelves to show everyone with their quilts! How exciting is that. I have another 300 to get up in the next day or so.
