Amrita Ollek

Amrita Ollek was in to longarm quilt her lovely little quilt called Popsicles. The Edge to Edge Digital design is Double Bubble with Glide Dusty Rose thread for the top.
Amrita likes the clean lines in the more modern fabrics. She keeps the quilt simple and lets the fabric do the talking. What a beautiful summertime quilt to go to a lucky little someone! Leslie Ford was the helper on this one. thank you to Amrita for sharing your creativity with us all!

Ann Petersen

Ann Petersen took the course in May with Anne Hall to make a mystery Quiltworx project. Ann had never done paper piecing before and had no idea what her project would even look like! Nerves of steel that girl!
Each day of the retreat the girls would receive a bag of the fabric and instructions for that day only. On the last day was the big reveal and everyone was able to see what they actually were making. The participants were able to choose their choice in colour but that is it.
Ann did fantastic and is now a complete addict for the paper piece patterns!

Catherine McLaughlin

Catherine also brought in this incredible quilt she made with a group of 8 or nine like minded people. She said that making the Northern Wilderness quilt with her quilt group was so much fun and also so interesting as everyone had their own fabric choices that they used.
That got the wheels spinning, being that Betty Oswell and I have gone over this pattern so many times trying to figure out a way to do it. What do you all think of forming a group that would meet once a month to work on the quilt. I can rent a space across from the shop so we would have to pay something towards the rent cost and I will have the patterns. Everyone could work from their stashes or ... come into my shop right here to find fabrics....said the spider to the fly.....LOL....
Anyway what do you all think? If you would be interested let me know in an email info@fabricshelf.ca
The Edge to Edge Design chosen is called Bear, Moose Pine with Glide thread Acorn for the top. Quilt was longarmed by Leslie Ford.
Thank you so much Catherine for getting me going on this!

Take a look at this incredible fabric! Calypso by In the Beginning fabrics the colours are so bright and vibrant! This one finishes at 75" x 83" for a great twin size quilt. We have it in the blue version as well as the teal version. I am leaning toward the blue myself but I could easily switch my preference over to the teal. Perhaps I should have both?

Weekly Quilting Tip

Have you ever wished you had a fast easy way to mark your rows? Usually I would put a piece of paper with the number on it to the row. Then I discovered the pins with numbers on them I was in seventh heaven!
However, what to do when you lose the pins? Yes that did happen. Well take your flower head pins and with a permanent sharpie put numbers on them! Isn't that just so silly? But it made perfect sense and works just as good!
Remember to send in your tips to be shared with everyone. info@fabricshelf.ca

Fidget Blankets

Claire Mackay, a member of the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, is looking for some help with her Fidget Blankets. The group is ready to start sewing and is looking for the attachments....zippers, buttons, trims and more. These are for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's to ease boredom and stress. We have a basket at the shop for any donations you have. A great opportunity to purge a bit of the sewing room and provide help to so many in our community.
Thank you to Claire for heading up this great program, and thank you in advance to all of you that can donate. We are looking for textures and fiddly items to be sewn to the blankets.
