Quilting Cruise to Hawaii Fall 2021!

THE BIG QUESTION … why would you book a quilting cruise right now, other than the fact Heather and Anne will be there?

Well … we totally understand that we are still in the midst of great uncertainty with regard to COVID.  But let us try to put your mind at rest.  We have been waiting for so long to finally secure a beautiful quilting space on this luxurious small ship, sailing to Hawaii from Vancouver (and also returning to Vancouver!).  Apparently, cabins are selling out really fast.  Our wonderful travel agent, Fiona Buchart, has secured an amazing deal if you book before the end of July, worth around CAD$800 per person!!!  Take a look at the cancellation schedule below.  FULL REFUND available until January!  So it gives you a few more months to wait and see without any risk at all:

Cancellation Fee Schedule (per person)

  • From 1st January 2021: $150 cancellation fee will be charged
  • From  27 June 2021: $400 cancellation fee
  • From 12 July 2021: 50% cancellation fee
  • From 27 July 2021: 75% cancellation fee
  • From 26th August 2021: 100% non-refundable

Brenda Bliss

brenda-bliss-3

Brenda Bliss was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous large lap size quilt. Lately Brenda has been working on nuetral colour quilts and they are stunning!

Notice the colour gradations and the layout is just perfect! Working with strips and setting triangles she had this one done at warp speed and I love the sides with the bars of colours. It brings the inside to the outside and balances the project beautifully!

Thank you to Brenda for sharing with everyone!

Laura Napier

  laura-napier

Laura Napier needed to get a baby quilt done in as quick of a time frame as possible. She chose the BQ pattern and long arm quilted it within the hour! Wow!

Laura really likes the BQ pattern for its ability to show the fabrics to maximum effect and the simplicity of choosing the fabrics. She does a great job every single time!

Thank you to Laura for coming in and inspiring us all to get it done!

Maureen Connolly

maureen-connolly

Maureen Connolly was in to quilt her gorgeous little quilt for a very special little girl. The parents had requested her name be incorporated somewhere on the quilt so Maureen appliqued the name below the little girl.

Maureen chose purples and pinks with an Asian flavour to the quilt as the little girl has that as part of her heritage. I am sure she will keep this one forever!

Thank you to Maureen for sharing your project with us all and giving us new ideas to personalize our own projects!

Twenty Strip Tote

twenty_strip_tote_aunties_2_pattern_002

We have the pattern for Twenty Strip Tote back in stock. We have had several requests for the pattern and you can see why!

Super easy to do, no fancy hardware, just using a Strip pack or your own 2 1/2" strips. Using fusible batting - 8 strips x 2 1/4" and then you need 12 strips of cotton batting 2 1/2". The pattern comes with a scan that if you use with your phone it will give you a video with help on making the project! How handy is that?

Bag measures at 12" tall, 12" wide and 4" deep. We also have the Happy Handles kit if you choose to make your handles the same as the pattern. Pattern is by Aunties Two Patterns and is $15.99 available in shop and on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Ditty Parkinson

ditty

Betsy Hartwick brought her friend Ditty Parkinson in to see our shop a while ago and we had a wonderful visit. Ditty very kindly sent a photo of what she has been working on.

The bed quilt is all in aquas, greens, greys and creams. Just a great combination of colours! The wall hanging above the bed she also made....but here is the really interesting part about it. She designed and created the wall hanging herself! What an artist! I would love to get into her head and see all the ideas running around!

Thank you to Ditty for sharing with us all and remember I love getting pictures of your projects to put up on the newsletter, so send them in. They inspire everyone and give us a chance in this time of restricted visiting to snoop and see what everyone else is doing. Myself? I made a placemat....le sigh....

Send your photos to my email at info@fabricshelf.ca

Unusual Garden by Jason Yenter

  unusual-garden-light

As you are sure to know, we love all the fabrics from In the Beginning Fabric company. Always great patterns, wonderful quality and the designs have a very distinctive artistic look.

We have just received the Unusual Garden line of fabrics and they are amazing! You have a choice of a light or a dark version. I couldn't decide on the black or the white so guess what? I got both!! Think quilts, bags, wall hangings, home decor and more.

Check them out in the shop or on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
