Weekly Quilting Tip

This week I have one of the most helpful hints I have ever come across. I am just thrilled to have this information at my fingertips.
Many years ago when I first started to quilt I had no idea how to read a tape measure. I knew where the 1/2" and 1/4" and even the 3/4" marks were but the rest were a complete mystery.
I hope this can help you on some of the weirder patterns with odd measurements.

Dennis Blackwood

Dennis Blackwood, wife Sheryll and friends came in from Salmon Arm to show us the quilts Dennis has created. The first on e is Mariner's Compass by Quiltworx. It all started last fall when Dennis came in looking for fabric to create this beauty. He had no idea where to start but he had a vision. That is all we need.....now let's have some fun choosing some fabrics. Dennis was so much fun to work with and before you knew it, we had a lovely stack of fabrics.
The story continues because Dennis didn't even actually have a pattern!!!! Enter the always lovely Anne Hall. Anne got him all set up with pattern and a layout for him to follow. I didn't hear much from Dennis over the winter and then just the other day he comes in to knock our socks off!
Dennis did the piecing and sent it out to be quilted to a longarmer in Salmon Arm. The design is an edge to edge with an ocean theme. Truly an amazing piece of work.
Thank you to Dennis for letting us be a part of this quilt story! I was so tickled that you came to show us the quilt!

Catherine Field

Catherine Field pieced this incredibly well done quilt and asked us to longarm it to really bring it to life! She is one of the best piecers I have seen with just lovely straight lines and even stitching. I want to be Catherine when I grown up!
The quilt is called Country Gold with warm autumn colours and a great balance of tones. Edge to edge digital design is called Alfresco with swirling vines and flowers. Thread chosen is Glide Brunette with Bill as the longarmer on this one.
Thank you so much Catherine for letting us be a part of your quilt journey!

Sher Perry brought her awesome little quilt in for us to longarm for her. Quilted using an edge to edge digital design called Double Bubble it is so fun and happy we all just loved it! The top thread chosen is glide Apricot Blush for a soft peachy look.
Due to us having 2 longarms to use we have little to no backlog of quilts waiting to be done. Bring your quilt in to get it quilted before the Christmas rush!

Carlina Stewart

I absolutely loved this quilt by Tilda Fabrics called Windy Days. The quilt pattern requires a fair amount of precision which Carlina is very good at. She likes for everything to line up and behave. The quilt finishes at 65" x 81" so big enough for a lap or twin.
Free pattern available: https://www.tildasworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/Windy-Days-Quilt.pdf
The edge to edge digital design chosen is Oodles of Doodles with the top thread Glide Cool Grey 3. Absolutely gorgeous quilt. I did remind Carlina my birthday is in August but I don't think she picked up on my heavy hints.
Thank you Carlina for letting us be a part of your quilting journey.

Drina Latrace

This quilt just has to make you smile. Barnyard Bash was pieced and quilted by the super creative Drina Latrace.
Drina will find a way to make things work one way or another. She is truly a spitfire with a heart of gold. She made this quilt for a little guy in California. The back of the quilt is Canadian fabrics in honour of that. I can't show the back due to room constraints.
Enjoy the front of her amazing quilt!
