Joy Parkes

  joy-parkes

Joy Parkes was in to long arm quilt this beauty of a quilt. The theme she was working with was African wildlife and she wanted to use the colours as well as the panel pictures to emphasize the theme.

Joy came in for help with some of the coordinates as well as the outer border. We managed to find something that went really well and she was off and running then!

Great work on this one Joy and I want to personally thank you for letting me help you choose fabrics with you. I love it when I get top do that!

Devona Hay

Devona brought these two darling little quilts in to show us. She made them for two little girls who are going to be over the moon with their quilts!

It is hard to see in the photo but it is Snow White themed in both with the sashings providing the contrast.

Well done Devona and thank you for inspiring us all!

Paulette Eccleston

paulette-eccleston

Paulette was in this week to long arm quilt this beauty of a scrap quilt. What a fabulous pattern to use up loads of fabrics! I am thinking that some of my fat quarter bundles might be just the ticket for this project.

Beautiful work Paulette and as always we are so appreciative that you come in and spend you time with us. You must have done enough quilts by now that your stash just has to look smaller?

Sharon and Hugh Marple

  sandra-and-hugh-marple

Sharon and Hugh Marple were in to see our long arm and try it out. These two were just so much fun to work with! The bright quilt on the right is a Hunter's Star and the one on the left has a nautical theme.

Sharon and Hugh took to the long arming so fast it was amazing. It all made sense to them and the smoothness of their stitching was spot on. I have to admit I was  a bit taken aback. Do you two have no fear????

As a side note Hugh is an amazing knitter and specializes in cabling. We spent some time chatting about wools and patterns. He showed me a different way to cast on that ensures a perfect tension from the bottom up! That has always been a bit of a issue for me so I wanted to say thank you for that tip!

Sandra, this is one fantastic quilt and Lori and I both want to thank you for letting us be a part of it all. Just amazing!

Thank you to Sandra for sharing your talents with all of us and Hospice House as well.

twenty_strip_tote_aunties_2_pattern_002

We have the pattern for Twenty Strip Tote back in stock. We have had several requests for the pattern and you can see why!

Super easy to do, no fancy hardware, just using a Strip pack or your own 2 1/2" strips. Using fusible batting - 8 strips x 2 1/4" and then you need 12 strips of cotton batting 2 1/2". The pattern comes with a scan that if you use with your phone it will give you a video with help on making the project! How handy is that?

Bag measures at 12" tall, 12" wide and 4" deep. We also have the Happy Handles kit if you choose to make your handles the same as the pattern. Pattern is by Aunties Two Patterns and is $15.99 available in shop and on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
