Verna Miller

verna-miller-lone-star ‌

Verna Miller was in to long arm quilt her stunning Lone Star quilt with help from Bill. I love the the purples she has used with white background for strong contrast.
The E2E design used is Baby Starz for an awesome finish to this heirloom of a baby quilt.

A beautiful quilt Verna!

‌

Jan Manke

jan-manke-perfect-panel-baby-quilt ‌

Jan Manke was also in to see Mr. Bill for long arming a baby quilt. This one is from a kit that we carried all in the soft baby tones that young moms like.

The E2E design chosen is Flirtatious which is lovely swirls and happy circles for a fun finish on a awesome little quilt.
Thank you to Jan for sharing with us all!

‌

Yvonne Betker

yvonne-bettker-large-half-square-triangle-quilt ‌

This quilt is a real showstopper with amazing colour choices and the perfect pattern to really make everything pop up and pay attention! Yvonne Betker is the quilt artist of this one and her quilt is a keeper!

Yvonne has used batiks on this quilt which would have made it a bit easier to deal with stretch and seams not behaving. The Batik is more stable to works much better for squares you will be cutting and/or sewing on the bias.

The E2E quilt design chosen is Windswept with Glide thread Affinity Rainbow for the finish you see. Yvonne is keeping this one and I can certainly see why!

Thank you to Yvonne for sharing and Mr. Bill for the help with the long arming!

Brenda Bliss

brenda-bliss-love-you-to-the-moon ‌

Brenda Bliss brought her delightful little baby quilt in to be long armed with help from Mr. Bill.
Wowser...Mr. Bill as been very busy lately!
Kathy Mitchell did the piecing and Brenda did the long arm quilting. So awesome to see how quilters come together and help each other!
Brenda chose the E2E design Starz with Glide thread Lazy Sun for the top.

Thank you to Brenda and Kathy for sharing and again to Mr. Bill for his help!

What to do with fabric Bleeds

version-1-0-0-2 ‌

If you have ever had a fabric bleed you are going to want to have a read of this article.
The author of the article is suggesting Palmolive soap whereas we use Blue Dawn dish detergent for excellent results. I am sure that either one will work stellar for you!

Bleeding Fabric and No Commercial Products to Stop It – No Problem!

Head to your kitchen and grab the original green Palmolive liquid that you use to wash your dishes. This inexpensive dish washing liquid will help your fabric release the excess dye and will allow you to get back to quilting! Simply run water in your sink that is the temperature you will eventually be using to wash your finished quilt, add a generous amount of original green Palmolive liquid to the water and then place your fabric in the water and agitate. (PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT PUT THIS IN YOUR FRONT LOAD WASHING MACHINE. The bubbles are way to plentiful for your washing machine to handle.) Let your fabric soak for 20-30 minutes agitating it occasionally. Let the water out of the sink and rinse. If the water does not run clear, run another Palmolive bath for your fabric and repeat the process. Depending on the fabric, it may take two to three Palmolive baths to stop the color discharge completely, but it is better to stop it now than complete a quilt and have it ruined during the first wash. When the water runs clear, place your fabric in the washing machine with a Shout Color Catcher to make sure that no more dye is being released and then you will be ready to use your fabric with the confidence that it is now colorfast.
