Meet Your Neighbour

margaret-dennison

This week meet Margaret Dennison! Margaret is a super nice person who has the ability to always see the good side of things. She is one of our cheeriest customers ever and we love her!

Margaret was born and raised in Kamloops and actually went to school with our very own Coral! Margaret and Coral took sewing in high school but there may have been a couple of issues. One had an attendance issue and the other wanted to do things only her way. I bet that teacher just loved them!

Margaret's grandmother was the inspiration for getting Margaret sewing. From the time she was a young girl, she was learning from Grandma how to sew. In the 1980s it was panels and by the late 1990' she was sewing quilts. Margaret's daughter still has her very first quilt she made and uses it all the time for photo props with babies!

Always up for a challenge, Margaret tried applique for the first time, making the Canada 150 quilt to celebrate that milestone. She is so very proud of it and so she should be!

Recently on holidays in Nakusp, Margaret joined a sew group and met some great people. They have taught her how to do a 2 colour binding. Giving a shout out to the quilters in Nakusp for their friendliness and sharing!

When asked what part of the quilting she likes the most Margaret answered....The Shopping!! LOL

Keep on quilting Margaret and thank you for sharing with us all!

Mary Jane Reid was in to long arm quilt this awesome quilt she made as a wedding gift for a couple living on Vancouver Island.

She chose to go with an ocean theme and the colours were perfect. Pattern is called Circle of Nine which is one of her favourites, as it is just so versatile for all kinds of projects.

The panto chosen is called Bora Bora and is wave like in design. Glide thread made the stitching easy and effortless!

Tricia Mercuri

tricia-mercuri-city-scapes

Tricia Mercuri was in this week to learn how to quilt using our APQS long arm Millie. She brought this amazing fabric by Hoffman to quilt and did an amazing job of it!

Tricia did things a little different by using one layer of Hobbs 80/20 and one layer of Hobbs wool batting. This gave the quilt extra loft and dimension.

Thank you to Tricia for inspiring us all with your creativity!
