Shirley Chizma

Shirley Chizma created this stunning Busy Bees quilt! She brought it in for us to quilt for her using an Edge to Edge Digital design called Busy Bees.

Her quilt is just gorgeous in the colours and layout she chose. the top thread is Glide Black. Leslie Ford is the longarmer on this one.

In regards to the photo, my brother Mike showed up just in time to hold the quilt up and I was not able to crop his head off, without it looking like a lump on the top of the quilt. My apologies for that. But that being said, Mike is wearing a fabulous Tilley hat.

Leanne Harrison

Leanne Harrison was in to longarm quilt her very first Bargello quilt. She has named the quilt Gage's quilt. I believe that is her grandson. Pretty darn lucky grandson!

The Bargello Pattern is called Modern Twist. The Edge to Edge Digital design is Unravelled. Top thread used is Glide Slate.
Bill was the helper on this one and it truly turned out amazing!

Cheryl Feller

Cheryl Feller brought her beautiful Five Square quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. All in the most gorgeous tones of blues you can imagine, this one is going to be much loved!

The Edge to Edge Digital design used is Modern Flowers Meandering and I just fell in love with it! Because I think I am almost modern...lol. All kidding aside, the design is really gorgeous on the quilt so check it out next time you come in for longarming on your quilt. the top thread chosen was glide Biscotti. Bill and Leslie teamed up to quilt this one!

Diana Hewins

Diana Hewins took the course with Anne Hall here at the shop in May to make a mystery Quiltworx quilt. Each morning a bag was handed out with the pieces to construct one section of the quiult without knowing what the finished project will actually look like! Nerves of steel those students!

The students did get to choose a colour way they wanted and this is the one Diana chose. Absolutely stunning!! Diana then finished the quilt up, being the keener that she is. The quilt was then brought in for longarm quilting.

Diana did the quilting with assistance from Lori Dewart. Edge to Edge digital design is called Heart Blossoms with Glide thread Tabriz Orchid for the top.

Weekly Quilting Tip

Our weekly quilting tip is a great one for sewers who have a nasty habit of putting things down and having no idea where it was put! I just might be one of those sewers.

Pick up a package of the little suction cups at the dollar store and stick it to the side of your sewing machine. You can hang you thread snips and you have a much better chance of remembering where they are. I am going to try this today!

Fidget Blankets

Claire Mackay, a member of the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, is looking for some help with her Fidget Blankets. The group is ready to start sewing and is looking for the attachments....zippers, buttons, trims and more. These are for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's to ease boredom and stress.
We have a basket at the shop for any donations you have. A great opportunity to purge a bit of the sewing room and provide help to so many in our community.

Christine Drewe

Christine Drewe is a longarm quilter out of Sorrento. She very kindly brought one of her masterpieces in the other day and I just had to get a photo of it! She worked with a panel, but with the custom quilting and the accuracy she has, it looks as though it is all pieced.I have included a photo below of a closeup of her work.

Christine specializes in custom quilting on quilts that have applique, English paper piecing, panels or any quilt that needs custom quilting of blocks, borders or backgrounds.

Sewing Machine Services

Bill is back to heading over to Salmon Arm every week to see his stepmom. He will be bringing your machines over to drop off with Hector and Tammy. Your machine will be returned to you the following week.

If you would like to get your sewing machines all ready for the spring/summer sewing season bring your machines in by end of day on Tuesday.
