Dale Bass
| |
This week I have chosen Dale Bass of Kamloops This Week newspaper as our hero and wait until you find out why!
Remember the mystery story of the yellow signature quilt? Well the owner has been found!
Dale was so interested in the story she came out to see us and wrote an article on the quilt. A fellow in Kamloops was reading the newspaper and says to his wife that she needs to see the paper right away. Turns out he gave the quilts to the thrift store years ago by accident and his wife never thought she would see them again. She had inherited three quilts from a family friend.
Well needless to say she got back all three of her quilts, among much crying, hugging and just overwhelming emotion. The yellow quilt with all the signatures was a Dowry quilt from 80 years ago! The story has everything from escaping Jewish people during the 2nd world war and more. It is just amazing. When we have the full story we will let everyone know. Also Dale Bass will be doing a newspaper story on this one.
So summing up the Hero I want to thank Dale Bass and the Kamloops This Week so much for all the help in this. It is right out of a movie! Your skill in telling the story, your willingness to share the story and your passion for the history has helped the owner of these quilts find her treasures again.

Diana Hewins was in to long arm quilt her latest Kaffe Fassett quilt project.
She is so comfortable using Kaffe fabrics that when you see her quilts there is a very real sense of colour flow.
She says she just loves the fabrics so much she spends very little time worrying whether they will actually work together. Drawing inspiration from books and her own imagination Diana consistently turns out gorgeous quilts with fun, passion and skill.
Thank you Diana for encouraging all of us!
