Sylvia Medford

This is a difficult quilt write up to do so I am going to ask for your patience and understanding. Sylvia sent me the following letter, and after drying my tears, have decided to share with you all.It is a village quilt: Pat Olmstead chose the fabrics and pattern, Sylvia Medford did the piecing and binding, and Bill Fagervik did the longarming. Thank you to all of you....you are all so incredible to give such a meaningful gift of love to Pat in her last moments. And now I am crying again.... Here is the letter from Sylvia: http://"D:RicohScanSylvia Medford letter.pdf"
There are just no words I can say. So incredibly honoured that Bill and I got to be a part of this.

Devona Hay

Devona Hay made this awesome Laundry Travel Bag and brought it in for us to see. Isn't this just so cool? She used mesh at the top for airing and bound all the seams with seam tape.
Her finishing on the bag is fantastic. I can guarantee you I will be making one for my trip this fall.
You can find the pattern in the shop or online at https://www.fabricshelf.ca/shop/c/p/TRAVEL-LAUNDRY-BAG-x63610478.htm

Maureen Connolly

Maureen Connolly was in to longarm quilt her stunning neutral quilt. Her piecing is excellent and with a very limited colour palette she really pulled this one off.
She used the edge to edge digital design called Alfresco with the size bumped up a bit.Glide Warm Grey 4 is the thread of choice for the top. Leslie Ford was the helper on this one.
Thank you to Maureen for sharing with us all and showing us that you can make an amazing quilt with only 2 fabrics!

Val Schilds brought her gorgeous little baby quilt in to be longarmed. Starting with a panel she grew it out be a great baby/toddler size. You just know this is going to be a very loved quilt by a lucky little one!
Edge to edge digital design is Seamless with Glide thread Chartreuse for the top. Longarm quilted by Leslie Ford.
Thank you to Val for sharing all your creativity and inspiring us!

Lori Dewart

Lori Dewart (yes our very own Lori Dewart ) brought in her awesome quilt she made for her daughter. Her colours choices and placement of the colours is perfect!
One of the interesting things on this one is that Lori machine stitched the binding down and I shall now eat crow, and say it looks fantastic! She cut her binding at 2 1/4" for a nice full edging with perfect straight stitching. I can't believe I am saying this, but the machine sewn binding looks fantastic!
Thank you to Lori for sharing with us all and your daughter is one lucky girl!

Paulette Eccleston

Paulette Eccleston brought her gorgeous Square in a Square quilt to longarm it. Paulette is one of the best scrap quilters I have ever seen. She really doesn't stress about what colour to put with what. She just lets the quilt set the mood and goes from there. Perfect piecing with points all matching and the most interesting mix of fabrics.
The edge to edge digital design is called Bubbles with the top thread bing Glide Teaberry. Leslie Ford is the helper on this one.
Thank you to Paulette for sharing with us. Your sense of freedom in quilting is truly inspiring.

Val Schilds

Val Schilds, who loves her flannels, brought her gorgeous little baby quilt in to be quilted by us. The owl flannel panel was purchased a while back and she finally found the time to get it all together. There is going to be a very happy little one who is going to snuggle right into this one!
The edge to edge design chosen is called Snow Winds with Glide thread Sea Green for the top thread. Longarm quilted by Leslie Ford.
Thank you to Val for letting us be a part of your quilt journey. You are amazing!

Weekly Quilting Tip

This week we have a great tip for the rotary cutting. Do you ever chip the ends or corners of your rulers? I sure have until I came across this ridiculously simple trick.
When rotary cutting, start with the blade about ½” up on the ruler, then cut it back to the tip and then cut forward. “If you always start cutting at the tip, the tip of your ruler will get chipped away from the blade over time and no longer be square.
Try this simple trick out and I think you will notice a big difference!
