Donna Clements

Donna Clements was in to pick up her quilt that she had us quilt for her. All in denim colours it looks fantastic!
Lori Dewart did the long arm quilting on this one with an edge to edge design and Glide thread for perfect results. I particularly like the size on this one. A good size lap quilt where if you roll over you still are covered.
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? We are at a week to a week and half turnaround. To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing 4" larger around or send an email to me at

Amrita Ollek

Amrita Ollek was in to long arm quilt her darling little quilt. She chose to use the computer program as she knows she will always get that perfect result.
The design she chose is puppy paw prints and is so cute on this one! I was really drawn to her choice of colours, which is a bit unusual for me. Not my normal palette but I love these fabrics together! I may have to revisit my stash to see what I can find....Hmmmmmm
Thank you to Amrita for sharing all your creativity and talents with us all!

Ruth Fane

Ruth Fane was in to long arm quilt her amazing quilt she made for her daughter. Each cat is different in pose and fabric choices! What a great project to customize to the recipient.
Ruth chose to quilt each block individually and finish up at home. It took all day with lots of concentration but she did it and I know she is so going to be the super mom on this one! The braid on the border was Ruth's part of making the quilt big enough for the bed. It looks like it was meant to be!
Thank you to Ruth for sharing with everyone all your talents! A gorgeous quilt!

The Book Nerd Quilt

Mel Swanson was to show us her fantastic quilt she made. This one is called Book Nerd and is paper pieced. For Mel, this was her first time paper piecing and she did a great job of it. What a fantastic pattern to use up some of your scraps or you could make each book special to the person receiving the quilt.
Quilt finishes at 54" x 66" and is by Angela Pingel Designs.
Thank you to Mel for inspiring us with more ideas of what to use some of our fabric for!

Lynda Dingwall

Lynda Dingwall brought her 2 quilts in for us to quilt for her. The first one is done with a polka dot and floral fabrics. Lynda fell in love with the floral fabrics a while back and I think she has finally finished up all of it. Yeah Lynda!!!
The second quilt is another of the fairy quilts, that she does oh so well. This time she chose to use the pinks and isn't it just so charming? There is going to be a very happy little girl somewhere! I would have loved this one as a little girl.
Thank you to Lynda for letting us be a part of the quilt journey you are on!

Celebration Tree Skirt Class

We have a new class to announce coming this September 18, 19 and 20th. This class is taught by Anne Hall, a CI for Quiltworx so you know that you are getting topnotch instruction and help.
You will have opportunity to custom design your own tree skirt with your colour choices. Custom colourways if ordered at time of booking UP TO 18th August. You will get to see the colourway before the kit is cut so that you can tweek it. It would be helpful if you choose ONE focus fabric that you would like in your quilt from Heather’s store. Preferably batiks due to some skinny points, but they don’t have to be. You can also opt to make a smaller tree skirt as this one is quilt large, 60". Just let us know what you want and we will do our best to accomodate.
The cost of the class is $295 for all three days and includes the pattern with foundation papers. Times are 9:30 to 5 each day.
You can give us a call at 250-376-7630 or you can sign up on the website at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Pot Pants

Pot Pants? Yes you heard me right! We had recently got a bolt of Cannabis fabric in the shop. Now who ordered that? I said Coral did and she said Heather did, so who knows? But then we had to think what we could do with it.
Mary Jane Reid stepped up to the plate and did some boxers using the Cannabis fabric and it was the perfect project! We have the pattern and the fabric available in shop and online http://www.fabricshelf.ca
And yes you will need to type the word Cannabis Leaf into the search bar. Seriously cannot believe one of us ordered Cannabis fabric! It had to be that Coral!

Rayon Batiks

We have Rayon Batik hand dyed fabric in the shop! The most gorgeous luscious colours you can imagine in blues , oranges and reds. More coming but we are off to a great start!
When picking a project, avoid very fitted garment patterns. Pick a pattern with some amount of drape and considerable ease. Swing tops and dresses, woven T-shirt patterns, loose camis, or wrap skirts can all be beautifully made in a rayon batiks.
Photo shows a Tee shirt made from one of the rayon batiks we now have in stock. Mary Jane Reid did the sewing on this one using a pattern called Scout Tee. Pattern and fabrics available in shop and online at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
