Diana Hewins was in to long arm quilt these two beauties! The one she is holding is called Awesome Oceans and the larger on is made up of half square triangles and is a free download on the Free Spirit website.

Diana does an incredible job of piecing and quilting her quilts. Her passion for colour and design is evident in everything she does!

Thank you to Diana for always inspiring us and raising the bar just that little bit more.

Kathleen Alcock

Kathleen Alcock was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous quilt she made for their new RV.

Kathleen took the panel of Canadian provinces, cut them apart and added a few more blocks to get it to the correct size. Adding a lovely tonal brown sashing and border was just the perfect complement.

Congratulations Kathleen on a fabulous quilt! I bet it looks even more amazing in the RV!

Shirley Hucaluk was in to long 2 quilts in one day. This one is from a kit she purchased out at Diversity Quilt Shop in Pritchard. Fabrics are RJR by Jinny Beyer and are so gorgeous! Project is called Midnight Garden.

With Lori Dewart's help Shirley got this one quilted with no problems and in quick time. She used a bit more complicated panto than she usually chooses and with her rich colour of Glide thread she has one incredible project!

Thank you to Shirley for sharing your day with us and bringing in such a gorgeous quilt that we all oohed and aahed over! She even let us pet it!

Shirley Hucaluk Quilt #2

  shirley-hucaluk-2

Shirley decided to quilt another quilt the same day because that is the way she rolls! Well done Shirley....she had them done in the mid afternoon and went home to put binding on.

This quilt is called Honey Comb Waffle and was a kit she purchased in Vernon at Jane's shop. Beautifully pieced and beautifully quilted!

Thank you to Shirley for a wonderful day and all the giggles and fun times...

Brenda Bliss

brenda-bliss-black-and-white

Brenda Bliss was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous lap quilt. She used a strip pack of fabrics called Jet Set to create this gorgeous quilt. I love the white triangles in the pattern to break it up.

Brenda always chooses well with her pantos and her threads. She is a great fan of Glide thread as it consistently sews well, with no breakage and tension issues.

Thank you to Brenda for another fabulous day!

Anne Hall and Heather have joined again to offer a quilting cruise next fall. Of course it will be contingent on the Covid situation but I am thinking positive and in the meantime I can have tons of fun planning new outfits and new projects! More about projects coming in an upcoming newsletter!

Marie Heron - This is amazing!

  marie-heron-1

Marie Heron, who is Lorraine Silbernagel's daughter, was in to show us what she did with some of the Maywood flannels she picked up at the shop. Marie claims that she is not a quilter....really????? No pattern, just her own imagination and this is what she produced!!!
Check out the photo below for picture of what she did with the smaller pieces left.

I can see why Lorraine is busting her buttons she is so proud of her daughter! Well done Marie!

The Ultimate Scrappy Quilt!

string-book

With so many of you using up your stashes right now I wanted to bring this book in to help you all out with some great ideas!

What the author has done in this book is she has taken classic designs and revamped them using contemporary fabrics and twists on the designs. They are just amazing and really interesting to see what she ends up with!

I just keep asking myself "Why didn't I think of that?". You can find the book available in the shop or on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
