Bill's July Road Trip
| |
I have Bill scheduled to head over to the Island on the 13th of July. I do not have firm dates yet but will post as soon as I have something definite. This is going to depend on ferry reservations and such.
Bill, fully certified APQS technician, is coming over to set one machine up, and do services for anyone in need with APQS machines. The cost of the service is $200 with everyone sharing the mileage, which will be $150. He is also available to bring fabric, kits or notion orders over. Just call your order in or email us and pay with your cc and he will bring it over....no shipping charge for that!
It is very helpful to have a name and address, phone # and email so he knows ahead of time and I can get him organized. Note how I worded that.
The trip after that will be Merritt at the end of July and then the Fraser Valley. He is going to be pretty darn busy!
Contact the shop at 250-376-7630 or email me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Lynda Dingwall brought her lovely little Fairies in the Spring quilt in for us to long arm for her. This line of fabric has been out for a long time and is as popular now as years ago! What little girl wouldn't love this quilt?
Leslie Ford did the long arm quilting on this one using edge to edge design Chantilly Lace and Glide thread Tabriz Orchid for the top.
Her daughter, Hillary, was with her and I thought what a great opportunity for a photo of the two of them!
Thank you to Lynda for sharing your quilt with us all and sharing your daughter!

Heather Batchelor is a newer quilter and is absolutely diving right in! Heather's creation is called "Barn Stars" Her favourite fabrics are the Kim Dheil Kansas Troubles fabrics. Warm country tones for a beautiful addition to her home!
Leslie Ford and Bill worked on this one as digitizing the size of the pattern was necessary as well as careful placement. They work so well as a team and did a stellar job of the quilting!
Heather's piecing was excellent and made quilting this little masterpiece a breeze.Finishing at 19" x 19" Heather couldn't wait to get home and put the binding on. Digital design chosen is Bumpity and thread is Glide Coffee.

This is the second of three quilt tops that Cathy brought in for us to long arm. The quilt was done in a class with Dianne Jansen of Diversity Quilts using many different Kaffe Fassett fabrics on a neutral background. The vibrancy of the Kaffe prints pop right up against the cream background. Just gorgeous!
Leslie Ford is the long arm quilter on this one using digital design called Bauhaus for a modern geometric look, and Glide thread colour Dijon for the top. Quilt finishes at 90" x 81".

The third of her quilt tops she brought in I saved for last as it is just jaw dropping! We see many quilts come through our doors and this one has to be one of the most remarkable quilts ever! Her piecing is beautiful but even more exciting was the way the quilting raised this quilt to a whole other level!
This one is the Double Wedding Ring quilt from Quiltworx Studios. Quilt finishes at 76" x 92". Leslie Ford is the long arm quilter on this one as well, with a simple design called Bumpity and Glide thread Pale Mist for an incredible finish!
Anne Hall was the instructor on this project as well.
All of Cathy's quilts will be on display at the Lilloett quilt show the weekend of July 22/23 so if you are looking for something to do, cruise on over to Lilloett to see all the talent that is on show!
Thank you to Cathy for sharing your projects with us all. They were all just jaw dropping!

Diana Hewins
| |
This quilt is a bit of a special one. Diana Hewins daughter is one of the directors of a national camp, Fyrefly Camp, geared to queer and trans youth. The kids all participated in decorating a block to be sewn together into a quilt. Themed on acceptance and kindness to each other, this one is a very special quilt indeed.
Diana came in to quilt it this week and it was just fascinating to read all the different messages and quite emotional. Diana, please give your daughter a great big hug from us.....the apple really didn't fall far from the tree!
Leslie Ford was Diana's assistant on the quilt. She chose to keep the design simple and let the quilt be the focus. Digital design Dear Heart with Glide thread Bright Gold for the top.
Thank you so much Diana for sharing this quilt with everyone. The message is so much more meaningful when it comes from the kids.
