Diane Legace
This week's hero is Diane Legace. I have known Diane for a long time and she is one of the best people I know to have in your corner. Honest to the nth degree, integrity and an amazing sense of humor she is a delight to everyone around her.
Diane works for Hospice House in Sahali, but lately has been co-managing the Flutter By Thrift store right behind us. Her part time job has morphed into full time and then some. She works so hard at what she does and gives so much of herself she is an inspiration to us all.
Flutter By Thrift Shop is looking for volunteers so if anyone has a few hours to spare once or twice a week she would be so grateful. Stop by her shop Monday through Saturday 10 - 5 pm.
Thank you Diane for all that you are.....one amazing woman!

Sheila Weikum
Sheila Weikum was in to show us her bag she made using her husbands jeans. She did a great job of recycling something into an everyday bag that she uses all the time!
Sheila used a McCalls pattern and Instagram for her inspiration and went from there. she even used the label from the jeans in the design of the bag!

Jan Manke was in to long this gorgeous little baby quilt yesterday. Beth was in to help her and they made quite the team! The quilt was quilted with swirls all over but not the applique block. In the applique block the bunnies were echo quilted and then ditched on the straight lines. The project turned out so cute and I am sure it will be treasured for many years to come!
Thank you to Jan for coming in to show us this cutie and thank you to Beth for helping make the magic happen!

Marvin Ecker
Marvin Ecker was in to show us some of his fabulous creations yesterday.
Marven is from Vernon and is a prolific quilter, active in the guilds and takes a ton of classes always looking for that next step to take on his quilting journey.
We have very exciting news in regards to Marven....he is coming to our shop Sunday August 12 in the afternoon to do a trunk show! Marven has done quilt trunk shows at several shops up and down the valley as well as Sun Peaks and we get him this time! Cost of the show is $5 per person to help pay for his transportation to come up.
Give us a call and let us know if you are coming so we know how many chairs we need. Don't miss this great opportunity to see some modern and some unique blends of traditional and modern quilting!

Patchabilities
We are starting to carry Patchabilities patterns and kits! We were very excited for this as it is a whole other avenue to explore!
Small projects you can work on in the car [ not while driving ] or at the park or wherever you want! Note to staff....not at work...LOL.
We have kits for the May jar of pussy willows using wool. You will need to supply the background. For the sample a piece of cream coloured flannel was used. We have other patterns available as well. They are near the front front of the shop where I can see them all the time! Also I can pet them. It is a quilter thing....LOL.
You will find them on the web site and also in the shop. http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Binding Those Weird Angles
Jacquelynne Steeves has a very well done article on binding the odd angles we have when using hexagons, diamonds and more.
Check it out on her blog and let me know what you think. I am really liking her blog as it is informative, fun and is just so real. She sounds like the rest of us....mad for fabric, crazy for creating things and loving her life.
If you wanted to see how she does the funny angles take a peek at Jacqueline Steeve's blog. While there take time to see her free BOM of Saving the Bees. I am really liking it and am seriously considering making this one. Anyone else interested? Might be something we could do together? Ideas are welcome here....
