On the Road Again!

Bill is heading north at the end of June for servicing APQS machines. The plan is for him to leave on the 24th of June and be back home around the 5th of July. I will be in need of some of his cooking by then. LOL
Bill will bring your domestic machines over to Salmon Arm on the 21st of June for servicing by Hector. He will have them back for Thursday June 22nd. The next available time to bring machines over for servicing will be
The cost of the service is $200 with the mileage shared between everyone. Therefore I am going to need to know who would like to have Bill for servicing. Did that sound wrong? You know what I mean. LOL
He will also be able to bring any orders that you make to the shop as well. I will be in contact with you as we get closer to the time.
If you can email me at info@fabricshelf.ca That would be super and I can get a list going.

Judy McCormick

Judy McCormick was in to pick up her 2 wall hangings she had us quilt and prep for her. Bill did the long arm quilting with a Raindrops quilt pattern on the interiors of the quilts and then I added the quilting on the borders and sewed binding to the front of the quilt. Her friend, Elsie, has offered to hand sew it down in place.
The really fun part of the story is when I asked La Rae Johnson to hold one of the quilts while Judy could hold the other for pictures. LaRae commented the rain quilting made her think of Seattle and that was it! Turns out Judy and LaRae grew up just a few blocks apart in Seattle!! There was much excitement and memories compared with phone numbers and emails exchanged at the end.
Those are just some of the very best moments in a shop, and I am so lucky to have been there to see it all unfold. Thank you to Judy so much for sharing with us all!

Diane Holmquist

Diane Holmquist brought her gorgeous vintage floral quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. I love the colour combination of the pinks, greens, yellows and creams. I am pretty sure this is a Nancy Halvorsen pattern as the applique pieces are so unique to that designer. Diane now has all the add ons to attach which will take some time, but oh what a finish! This is for a very lucky granddaughter who will cherish the quilt forever!
Bill did the quilting using the edge to edge design Bumpity to keep things simple and let the fabrics and design really show! Thread chosen is Glide Celery.
Thank you so much Diane for sharing with everyone!

Allison Sidow

Allison Sidow was in to take a class with Bill on using the long arm machine. Allison is a newer quilter and it was so much fun to show her all the tips and tricks that we know. Pressing has been one of her challenges and a bit of learning on using Mary Ellen Best Press and the Easy Press pen to use on every seam solved that issue! I do love a nice flat crisp seam!
*** Please note that we cannot ship the liquid but have it available in the shop.*** Her quilt is simple blocks with sashing but a great one to work on for the first time on the long arm as there are lots of reference lines to use. Her quilt was lovely and square which helped a lot as well. The edge to edge digital design she chose is Butterfly Waltz with Glide thread Vegas Gold.
Thank you to Alison for sharing your quilt journey!

Verna Miller

Verna Miller was in to long arm quilt her amazing Space quilt for her grandson. She says he is a giant and 6'6" tall so needs a super large quilt. Her use of new fabrics and what she had in her stash is perfect!
Bill was the helper on the quilt with Verna and they had a great day plotting and planning. The edge to edge digital design is Starlet and Glide Prickly Pear thread for the top.
Please all admire Verna's wonderful pole dancing pose with her quilt. She is a multi talented quilter for sure!
Below you can see the back of the quilt which is equally impressive! Thank you to Verna for sharing this fantastic quilt with us all!

Bill's July Road Trip

I have Bill scheduled to head over to the Island on the 13th. I do not have firm dates yet but will post as soon as I have something definite.
Bill, fully certified APQS technician, is coming over to set one machine up, and do services for anyone in need with APQS machines. The cost of the service is $200 with everyone sharing the mileage. He is also available to bring fabric, kits or notion orders over. Just call your order or email us and pay with your cc and he will bring it over....no shipping charge for that!
It is very helpful to have a name and address, phone # and email so he knows ahead of time and I can get him organized. Note how I worded that.
The trip after that will be the Fraser Valley. He is going to be pretty darn busy!
Contact the shop at 250-376-7630 or email me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Karen McTavish

This week I have a super interesting article featuring Karen McTavish and her micro loops she creates for quilts. Karen is an absolute master at quilting of the quilt with many awards for her efforts.
This woman is a dynamo with so much energy and talent it leaves me a bit gobsmacked! Check out her video on how to do this great little fill for your next project. Click on the link: https://www.apqs.com/quilting-micro-loops-on-your-longarm-quilting-machine/
***You do not have to have a APQS machine to do this technique. Any machine domestic or otherwise, will work. You will be very happy with an APQS machine, though. ***
