Donna Youd

donna-youd

Donna Youd was in this past week for a class on the long arm. She is a relatively new quilter and had quickly thrown this one together with all of her Christmas scraps. I love the stained glass look.

Donna is one of the most enthusiastic customers we have ever had! She practically danced her way through long arming her quilt. She sang and bounced and we loved it!

Thank you Donna for a fabulous day and bringing so much fun and lightness to our day!

Carol Needabo

  carol-needabo-2

Carol Needabo was in to long arm this gorgeous lap quilt she made using all her scraps. Well, maybe not all her scraps but lots of them anyway!

Carol chose a simple panto called Cool Beans and with Glide thread had perfect results. It was her first time using this particular panto and she really enjoyed it.

Thank you to Carol for sharing with us and giving us new ideas for using our scraps up!

We have several bolts that coordinate with it so you can make a quilt or a bucket bag as shown in the picture below. Also this fabric would look gorgeous in home dec items  for the bathroom, living room or your bedroom. The possibilities are endless.

Pattern for the Bucket Bags is by Among Brenda's Quilts. Fabrics are priced at $20.99 and pattern is priced at $16.99. Come on in to see them or you can order on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Kathy Mirtle

kathy-mirtle

Kathy Mirtle was in to take the class on long arm quilting. She made this quilt using Wonky Stars and scraps for the squares. I love the way she kept the darker squares to the outside and the lighter to the centre. Really makes the stars pop up!

We are booking well into July now, so if you would like to try long arming on the best of the best in long arm machines give us a call 250-376-7630.

Thank you to Kathy for coming and sharing your day with us! Welcome to the world of Long Arm quilting!

Mary Jane Reid

  mary-jane-reid

Mary Jane took a gorgeous panel and used the attic window pattern to turn it into an amazing project! When you use the Attic Window pattern you do have to be careful not to distort the pattern too much. This happens because you cut the panel apart and add the sashings.

On Mary Jane's project it works fabulous, but be careful when using animal panels. They can sometimes appear as if they have extraordinarily long necks or weird looking legs.

I am a floral kind of girl, so just loved the look of this one! Felt like spring and pretty things!

Thank you to Mary Jane for coming in to quilt this great little project!

Arlene MacLeod

arlene-macleod

Arlene MacLeod was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous little lap quilt. We have this one in as a sample with black Minky on the back. It is just so lovely Arlene took one look and said "I want to do this one! With the black Minky!"

Arlene used a fat quarter pack and had it pieced in no time. The quilting was fabulous on the long arm. It is so much easier to quilt your Minky quilt on the long arm than under your domestic machine. No sliding and puckers....just gorgeous rich looking backing!

Thank you to Arlene for coming in and sharing the day with us all. Also for giving me a pat on the back for my quilt! We need to do that more often for each other!

Anne Hall and Heather have joined again to offer a quilting cruise next fall. Of course it will be contingent on the Covid situation but I am thinking positive and in the meantime I can have tons of fun planning new outfits and new projects! More about projects coming in an upcoming newsletter!
