Anne Lewis brought her lovely lap quilt in for us to longarm for her.Very traditional and very cozy! Just makes you want to curl up with it and a good book.

This quilt is going to a family member who has been very ill. I just know it will be very much loved and appreciated!

Her Vintage Memory quilt was quilted with the Edge to Edge digital design using PS I Love You. Top thread is Glide Sage with Cream bobbin on the back. Longarm quilted by our very own Leslie Ford.

Catherine Luckow was in to have us longarm quilt her beautiful quilt. Don't you just love the colours and the pattern for this one?

Catherine is new to applique so there were a few challenging moments, but she persevered and got it done! I am in love with this quilt!

Colleen Smith was in to pick up her gorgeous Bouquet lap quilt. Colleen said the quilt was easy enough to do with a few little parts that gave her a bit of a pause to think it out. Colleen was absolutely thrilled with her project and is already planning her next project!

The longarming was done by Leslie Ford using the Edge to Edge digital design called Creeping Fig. Top thread is Glide Cork.

Cheryl Feller brought her beautiful African themed quilt in for us to longarm quilt for her. The kit was called Global Luxe with the most amazing panel and coordinates.

The quilt was longarm quilted by Leslie Ford with the Edge to Edge digital design Windswept. Top thread is Glide Biscotti. The soft sand colour of the thread was just perfect for the quilt.

Shirley Hucaluk

Shirley Hucaluk was in to longarm quilt her vintage quilt made by her husband's mom. What an fascinating quilt to see!

We are thinking that she made the quilt using a McCall's magazine pattern. The fabrics were a bit of a challenge as they were everything from cotton, fortrel and even broadcloth! It is like a trip down memory lane to see all the fabrics and the traditional tulip appliques.

The Edge to Edge digital design is called Bella Donna with the top thread is Glide Key Lime. Lori Dewart was the helper on this one.

Thank you so much for sharing with everyone Shirley! I am sure that Ken's sister is going to love having this very personal piece of her mom's life!

Weekly Quilting Tip

I will be offering a quilting tip each week so I will start this off with a great idea on some tips for using Metallic threads.

Metallic threads are notorious for causing problems with breakage and skipped stitches. As in every inch or so! very irritating!

1.Metallic needles. They have a larger eye so don't strip the thread as quickly. In a pinch you can also use a Topstitch needle. Metallic needle is preferred as the shaft of the needle is ideal.
2. Place your metallic thread upright. If your machine does not have a spool holder that is upright you can purchase a thread stand that goes on the table behind your machine. You can also use a coffee cup, but there is more chance of snarling with this method.
3.Have your thread as far from the machine as you can. The Metallic thread is metal wrapped around the cotton core. Having the thread stand away from the machine means that your thread works out the kinks before reaching the machine.
4. Use Sewer's Aid, which is a thread lubricant and is great for smooth passing of the thread through the tension discs.
5. Sew at half speed and have your stitches at about a 2.3 length.
6. Use a coordinating colour of cotton or cotton /poly thread for the bobbin.

I love shiny things, as even my husband is bald...LOL....and use the metallic threads often. Give some of these tips a try when using Metallic thread!
