Laundry Basket Quilts

Mystery Quilt 2021 by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts has a fabulous design for you to do. Quilt finishes at 68" x 68" but we do have loads of her fabrics in the shop so easy enough to make it larger.
I have actually started this one myself. Love the fabrics...like soft faded denims. This is where I am hoping you all can keep me moving forward and getting this one done. I am hoping that each week I can post that section. I will also post with the link for the instructions for you. As well, I do have them printed off for anyone who needs a written pattern.
I am not too sure if I will do the applique or just leave it. Hmmmmmmm. Please admire my little 4 patches as they actually are done by me!!!! Now on to week 2!

Jennifer Agar

Jennifer Agar brought her quilt in for us to long arm quilt. Lori Dewart did the quilting using a pattern called Rip Curl which mimics ocean waves. How perfect is that?
Jennifer very generously sent me the photo of the happy quilt recipient and this great little message.
Jennifer, you have no idea what a wonderful lift to the day you gave me! Thank you so much! Here is the message she sent: Hi Heather, my happy niece with the pirate quilt for her 2 yr old son. She loves it! Lori did the perfect stitching design! I was in Kelowna for the week on my own “sewing retreat”. My son offered to pick it up on Wednesday for me and bring it down but I suggested we meet in Vernon. I spent that night and most of the next day attaching and sewing down the binding. I was so “sew” happy to deliver it to Penticton Friday. The best part is that my mistakes don’t look so bad now that it is completed.

Wendy Logan

Wendy Logan was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous quilt she made for her bed. Don't you just love the colours of muted teals, creams and chocolate browns?
With help from Lori Dewart and using the computer she had perfect results in little time. This project is 93" square and took 3 1/2 hours to quilt. Pattern choice was Alfresco, one of my favourites!
Thank you to Wendy for sharing with everyone! You did amazing!

Lynda Dingwall

Is this not the cutest quilt ever for a special little girl? Lynda Dingwall was in to pick up her quilt she had us quilt for her. Bill did the quilting for her using a lovely little floral design and it is just perfect!
When Lynda first came in she was just stumped on what to do for a border. Leslie, one of our staff, was able to help her to find the perfect border print by Jason Yenter. The colours were spot on and the whole feel of the quilt was consistent from the center panel to the outside!
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? We are at a week to a week and half turnaround. To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing 4" larger around or send an email to me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Leanne Harrison

Leanne Harrison was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous project last week. With help from Bill, she chose to use the computer program and with Glide thread she had perfect results!
Leanne is attracted to the strong bright colours with lots of contrast. It can be difficult to work with them all together in one project. You have to be careful that all the fabrics play nice together, with no one colour competing with the next. It can be challenging but Leanne did a fabulous job of it!
Thank you to Leanne for sharing all your amazing talents with us!

Lise McDevitt

Lise McDevitt was in to quilt 3 of her quilts. First up are 2 baby quilts she pieced with friends from the Fraser Valley that she has been friends with for a long time. All their baby quilts are donated to Vancouver Children's Hospital.
Lise chose a flannel backing for extra soft and cuddly feel. Bill helped her use the computer for perfect results and endless choices in design!
But....she wasn't done yet....check out the photo below for the next one she did on the same day..

Here we have Lise with her bed size, but not overly huge, quilt using bright scraps on a white background for maximum contrast. The backing she chose was absolutely spot on....white with all sorts of bright coloured sayings. Positive messages are a great addition to this fun bright quilt!
Thank you to Lise for sharing with all your talents, your creativity and your generosity in giving back to your community!

April Lamont Quilt

April Lamont quickly moved on to making a quilt for her Grandson. The Dinosaurs are so cool! Those bright colours and again some amazing paper pieced blocks she found on Fandom in Stitches.
What is really interesting with April's quilts is that she intends for them to be used. The quilts are very specific to the the person receiving them and I am sure these will be well loved!
Check out the photo below for what the pieced back looks like with sharks! so cool April!
Thank you to April for sharing all your creativity and ideas with us all!

Unicorns and sparkles!

April Lamont made this incredible quilt for her granddaughter and it is just amazing! She used several techniques in this one .... piecing, embroidery as well as paper piecing. Was just amazing!
Take a look at the photo below to see what she did with the back of the quilt. April is so creative and very much an independent thinker. She has a vision and just finds ways to make it work. Many of the paper piece designs came from an on line site called Fandom in Stitches. You can find hundreds of unusual designs there to paper piece. Check them out at http://www.fandominstitches.com/
