Meet Your Neighbour

laura-campsall-cardinal-quilt-001

This week I would like you all to meet Laura Campsall. Laura is one of the most fearless quilters I have ever met in all my years of quilting and sewing! When Laura first came into see us she expressed an interest in applique. Never having made a quilt before of any type, I assumed she was looking for something simple with few pieces. Wow, was I wrong! She wanted to do Toni Whitney's Hummingbird with an insane amount of tiny little pieces that all have to be traced, cut and stitched down in the correct order! She did it! One very amazing woman!

Laura was born in Brandon, Manitoba where she lived until she was 5. Her family decided to move out to Alberta and pursue a rural lifestyle. Laura took to it like a duck to water. She became an avid horse rider performing on a Drill Team! As you can see, Laura never does it the easy way!

Laura moved to Kamloops in 2001, working at Beattie Elementary School and later at Super Store. Then quilting entered her life, thanks to her mom inspiring her along the way. There is absolutely no point in asking Laura what her favourite part of quilting is......she loves every single part of the process. In a very short time she has done piecing, applique, paper piecing and more!

With her husband and mom's support and encouragement Laura has become one of our most prolific quilters with new ideas and projects always on the horizon! Keep reaching for the next step Laura.....you make us all so very proud to know you!

Kathleen Alcock was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous project made from a kit purchased quite a while ago. Kathleen had purchased it as she loved the colours but once made her quandry was "How do I quilt this one?" She prefers to do free motion work and tried a new technique on this one using wavy lines. The results were just amazing! I think we were all giggling and teary eyed on this one! Kathleen we are all so thrilled that you ended with exactly what you wanted! This quilt is going to Kathleen's home to be cherished and loved by her Hubby and herself.....and probably her much loved kitty, Lucey!

Thank you for sharing your project with us all and giving everyone here at the shop the best warm and fuzzy ever!

A new Block of the Month program has started at the shelf! We just love the rich blues and deep browns in this project. One of the most appealing aspects of this quilt is that it is suitable for young, older, male, female, weddings, graduations and more. Not a lot of quilts tick that many boxes, but this one does it all!

Price of the program is a $25 commitment fee and then $39 per month for 7 months. You can purchase the entire  kit for $279 and waive the commitment fee if that works better for you. The quilt is on display at the front of the shop so come on by and take a look!
