Hero of the Week

kim-aydon-003

This Hero of the week this time is Kim Aydon!

Kim is down from Prince George to teach machine embroidery. The students are having so much fun and wait until you see their projects!

Kim is the hero this time for her optimistic outlook on the day no matter what comes at her. She is incredibly organized which I am so in awe of! Somehow , no matter the level that her students are at, she manages to get the information across and have everyone feeling accomplished. I applaud her patience and sense of humour at all times.

Kim....thank you for bringing your own special sunshine into our shop for these three days!

Robyn Shiels

  carol-delaney-and-robyn-009

The always multi talented Robyn Shiels, was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous bee themed quilt. She was also showing us her multi tasking skills as she long arm quilted with baby Anna, strapped to her front. Anna is only a few weeks old  so Robyn has had to be creative in finding ways to get things done.

Thank you Robyn for sharing your quilt with us and especially for sharing little Anna with us.

Carol Delaney

carol-delaney-and-robyn-002

Carol Delaney brought her quilt in for Beth to quilt here at the shop. She chose a rich chocolat brown Minky for the backing and the quilt turned out gorgeous!

Beth drew leaves all around the outside borders, edge stitched around the deer and filled in the background. She did a great job and the finish is stunning. I think Carol will be sharing this one in the quilt show!

Thank you Carol for sharing your lovely quilt!

Robyn Shiels

We have Robyn Shiels up again with her second quilt of the week. I just loved the fabrics in this one! Austrailian fabrics with fantastic designs that were left to be the star of the show! Just a gorgeous quilt and a great job on the quilting Robyn!

Thank you to Robyn for again sharing with us!

9th Annual North Shore Quilt Show

quilt-show-2014-029

Quilt Show this year is April 28 and 29th. We have had to move it one weekend ahead due to a booking conflict with the Seniors Center. Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

This quilt show is all about you! Think of it as a giant Show and Tell with lots of inspiration for everyone!

I have always envisioned our quilt shop as part of a network of like minded people. The annual quilt show is an opportunity to show what you have done, see what others have done, to inspire others and to be inspired. I hope all of you will have a chance to be a part of a great event held right here in the Brock Center.

We have a few things lined up for the show. Jennifer Smith from H.A. Kidd will be here to show us what she has in the way of notions and ideas. These are straight from the warehouse so it should be pretty darn exciting to see!

No entry fee, no judging .....just fun!

We will start to accept quilts in the middle of April. We will also be looking for volunteers to help out at the show so stay tuned for details.

Oldies but Goodies for the quilt show!

  antique machine

The Antique section of last year's quilt show proved to be very popular so we will be repeating it again.

If anyone has anything to show please let us know. It can be sewing machines, sewing patterns, notions or other items of interest to sewers and quilters. We are trying to get a sense as to how much room we will need for that part of the show.

Give us a call at 250-376-7630 or email us at info@fabricshelf.ca

Elizabeth Biagioni

embroidery-class-006

Elizabeth Biagioni was in to show us her gorgeous quilt she made for her grandson for his upcoming graduation! Lucky grandson I'd say!

I just love the colours in this one. An interesting outcome on this quilt - she did not realize until the quilt was done that the blue diamonds are different....every single one! The fabrics just laid out that way!

Long arm quilted by Linda King.

Thank you for sharing with us Elizabeth!

Call of the Wild

Shirley Hucaluk & Heather Griffith

  shirley-hucaluk-001

Shirley Hucaluk was in to long arm quilt this gorgeous queen size quilt for Heather Griffith! She used the "Jessie's Swirls" panto and Glide thread for a perfect finish to this great quilt.

The backing chosen was a 90" wide black minky and it looked amazing with the quilting on it.

Thank you to Shirley and Heather for sharing the day and the quilt with us all.
