Strange Times Indeed

holding-steady-in-uncertain-times

It is strange and interesting times indeed we live in. Stores are closing, playgrounds are empty and self-isolation is the word of the day.

We are closed to the public, but our online shop remains open. We also take orders over the phone. You can choose to pick up at the shop or we can deliver. As this situation unfolds and changes daily if not hourly, we will do our best to adapt to your needs.

We ask if you have any concerns, questions or suggestions on how we may be able to better assist you please let us know by email info@fabricshelf.ca

Stay safe, enjoy your time with your family at home and try to chip away at all those UFOs lurking in bins and bags.

Hector and Tammy are coming!

  sewing machine repair

Hector and Tammy were scheduled to come up on Thursday March 26, but we did not have enough machines to make it worth their while.

If you have a machine that could use some servicing let us know. As soon as there is enough machines they will come up. You will get your machine back that day unless there is a part that needs to be ordered in.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to support this great couple and their business. Give us a call at 250-376-7630 to reserve your spot.

To Mask or not to Mask?

images-2

As I am sure most of you are aware there has been much discussion on the merits of mask making to protect people during this outbreak.

My personal feeling is that you should go ahead and make masks. Are they as good as the ones used in hospitals for doctors and nurses? Certainly not. Will they help to some degree? I believe so.

There are many situations where a homemade mask could be beneficial. Care homes, grocery stores and general public use. At the very least, if making masks provides comfort, minimizes spread of germs and gives validity to the creator of the mask this is a very good thing.

I am not writing this to have a debate on the issue of mask making, just stating my own opinion.

If you are interested in helping make the masks there is a group in Kamloops called Sew the Curve Kamloops you can find on Facebook to help you get started.

Connie Swanson

  Connie Swanson

Connie Swanson dropped off her quilt to be quilted by us. Starting with a gorgeous panel, she added to it to make it bed size.

I think it just turned out awesome! The panto was the Bumpity and the thread was Glide for perfect results. We are still up and going to quilt your quilts so give us a call and drop them off at the shop for us to quilt them.

Give us a call at 250-376-7630

Wildlife Prints

eagles

We had 3 different panels come in to the shop in the last week or so. By Hoffman Fabrics these digital prints are just gorgeous!

The eagle panel measures at 28" x 44" and the Bear and the Wolves measures at 30" x 44". You could just add borders and quilt for a beautiful wall hanging or you could choose to do what Connie has done and use it for the centre of a bed quilt. All panels are priced at $19.99. Give us a call at 250-376-7630 or shop on line at http://www.fabricshelf.ca
