We Have a Winner!

contest 2

We have a winner for the Block contest! Judy Gibb.... come on down! You are the winner with a guess of 29 Hope blocks plus enough pieces cut for several more blocks! The correct number was 26.

I know she is going to be so excited! The blocks are a pattern called "Hope" and she has enough here to do one lap with sashings and possibly another whole quilt!

Stay tuned for next newsletter when I will be announcing a new contest. This is a great way for you to clean out your sewing room and pass it on to another fellow quilter to make use of what you aren't going to use. If you have something to enter in the contest, please put in a box or bag with your name and phone number and bring it in. This is turning into something really fun!

Congratulations to  Judy Gibb  and enjoy your new to you fabrics!

Alaska 2022

alaska-may-2022-projects

Yes we are going to Alaska in 2022 on a quilting cruise. How exciting is that? Anne Hall and I are hosting this fabulous trip and garauntee some good times, quilting, good food and spectacular scenery!

This is of course all dependant on the Covid situation, as we take your safety is of first concern for us. All precautions will be taken to have fun, enjoyable but safe vacation. We have a limit of 20 students in order to keep distances.Over half of the spaces are gone in just a couple of days!!!

The project offered is gorgeous! Called "Mermaids Tale" you can make this one as a 68" x 68" or extend it to a 99" x 99" queen quilt. You also have the option of doing the Poinsettia project which you will probably be able to finish the top on the cruise! That would be cool! Next you also can choose to do a UFO! You will need it to be a Quiltworx or Be Colourful project, and Anne will help you get through the project!

This all sure makes it sound pretty darn exciting! You can find all the details at Anne Hall's website : http://www.sewpeaceful.com

Carlina Stewart

carlina-stewart-2

Carlina Stewart was in to long arm quilt her gorgeous bed size quilt she made for a granddaughter. With Lori's help, the computer on our APQS machine and of course the always dependable Glide thread she had a finished quilt in just under 3 hours.

The fabrics chosen on this quilt are from Tula Pink fabrics with stripes, dots, funky animals and more. She chose to quilt it with a raindrop design that was just perfect!

Thank you so much Carlina for sharing your creativity with us all!

Kathy Mirtle

kathy-mirtle-4

Kathy Mirtle brought her quilt in to be quilted by us. Lori Dewart quilted it with a gorgeous butterfly design using the computer of course!

Kathy's quilt turned out just lovely with a very summery whimsical feel to it. Just what we are all so looking forward to having! Dianne Jansen out at Diversity Quilt shop advised her to use log cabin blocks to expand the panel and make it into a baby quilt size. Great idea Dianne! Very well executed Kathy!

The combination of Kathy Mirtle for the piecing, Lori Dewart for the long arming and Dianne Jansen with design advice was a great melding of talents! Well done to all of you!

Out of time? Busy getting ready for gardening? Don't forget that we can quilt your quilt for you if you like.
We charge $.03 cents per square inch. Take the width, times it by the length and then times it by $.03 for what it would cost you.
Excellent results and a fast turnaround. Just bring your quilt in on a hangar in 3 seperate pieces....top, batting and backing. No batting? We can provide that. No backing? We have lots to choose from.

See you soon with your latest masterpiece!

Maureen Connolly

maureen-connolly-3

Maureen Connolly was in to quilt her great little vegetable quilt. She was pretty convinced this would be her ugly quilt. Really??

Bill helped Maureen to quilt it with the bumble bee design, which is one of my favourites! It looked like bees buzzing around all the fruits and veggies.  What a fun design to really bring this quilt to life.

So what happened then??? Maureen has decided that she now loves her quilt and it will be her picnic quilt. Amazing how the quilting can really bring a quilt to life!

Thank you to Maureen for a fun morning quilting with you! Your creativity and talent is awesome!

Lynn Vanderlinde

lynn-vanderlinde

Lynn Vanderlinde was in to quilt her beautiful lap quilt with amazing cat blocks and paisleys all over. The colours in the quilt are just gorgeous with rich blues, reds, purples and teals. Love, love, love this!

The design chosen by Lynn was a edge to edge design with cat faces hidden throughout, which as you can imagine was pretty darn amazing on this project! Bill helped her with choice in design and thread choices. Bill is a master when it comes to thread choices.

Thank you to Lynn for sharing your creativity and your quilt with us!

Arlene MacLeod

arlene-macleod-2

Arlene MacLeod was in to long arm quilt her beautiful quilt this week. She used the computer for those perfect results with a gorgeous Star Swirl design. Glide thread meant no issues and smooth sailing to the finish line!

Arlene is a take charge kind of girl and she just keeps motoring. Nothing stops her. She really did well on this one and loves the computer for ease and speed of use.

Thank you to Arlene for sharing your creativity with everyone and giving us so much fun in our day!

Axel Lubbeck

axel-lubbick

Axel Lubbeck was in to show us his completed baby quilt for a cousin and wife who are expecting soon.
Axel has a super inspiring story to tell of his quilting journey!

A couple of years ago Axel came in looking to purchase a sewing machine. He wanted something a bit different from the new ones. It had to be heavy, basic and running well. We had a 1950's Elna machine that he decided was a perfect fit and off he went. For the next several months he created all sorts of items from wallets to gear that he needed for his work.

Finally he decided it was time to make a quilt. We found a bundle of fat quarters and a Yellow Brick Road pattern by Atkinson Designs and off he went again to sew them together. Next time in he brought his quilt, at which time we talked about ironing and pressing seams. He promptly bought an iron and went home to pick his quilt apart and redo with pressing! Well done! Next came borders and binding. He had some mini lessons from us and used YouTube videos and voila! He has a quilt! He does have one piece of sewing hint for you all....if you don't have any masking tape to adhere your quilt back to the floor to make the quilt sandwich you can use electrical tape and it does the job!

We are so proud of Axel and all he has accomplished! Well done Axel and can't wait to see what comes next.

Thank you to Axel for sharing your creativity, tenacity and fabulous enthusiasm with us all!

One of the bolts that is new in is just so cute! Called Yoga is For Everybody it depicts different farm animals doing yoga positions! Is that not just so cute?

I am thinking a bag to take to the gym. If I was to go to the gym. Not really seeing it as a bed quilt. I think Bill might put his foot down on that decision! It is super cute though right???
