So Are We Open????

sign-we-re-open-300x212

In these strange times nothing is simple and certainly nothing is easy. We are open. Sort of.

Our shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. We are having limited numbers of people in the shop....no more than 6 but can be less if requested.

We are cleaning the shop constantly and are doing all we can think of the minimize the risk of getting this awful virus. If you are not feeling well, it would be best if you don't come in. [ me trying to be tactful! ]

As you are sure to know, the supply chains for product is complete mess with orders held up for weeks due to staffing shortages in warehouses and offices. We have orders. I am waiting with bated breath. Please be patient with us as we wait for product.

In the meantime, if you hear a great cheer you will know that the truck has finally arrived!

In the meantime, you can phone an order in, come to the shop or order on line http://www.fabricshelf.ca

Elizabeth very kindly offered to show her quilt she made with an incredible number of half triangles and Flying Geese! I can't even imagine the cutting and sewing involved in this one!

The quilt is just gorgeous with a lovely clean look to it with the use of deep reds and white.

Thank you Elizabeth for sharing with us all!

Butterfly Haven

Take a gander at this gorgeous quilt! Fabrics by Wilmington Prints a panel is placed in the center with easy but very effective blocks framing it to bring  the quilt to a 94" bed size.

The quilt was pieced by Betty Oswell, quilted by Lori Dewart and binding put on by Sandra O'Reilly. I told them all what to do.....sort of like a Project Manager. LOL

We have kits for "Butterfly Haven" available in the shop and on line for $299.99 with instructions, top fabrics and binding.

Naomi Travers

The winner for April"s $75 Gift Certificate is Naomi Travers! She was just a bit excited!!!! Hair was done and here before we could blink!

The really exciting part is that the weekend before she won a Brother Sewing Machine! Naomi is on a winning streak and we are just thrilled for her.

Naomi contributed a lot of time, money and efforts  to the Sew for the Curve program of mask making in Kamloops over the last several weeks and I just think she is so deserving of the prize!

Congratulations to Naomi!

Sherri Johnson

Sherri Johnson wanted to share a quilt with everyone she has been working on.

This one is a Tshirt quilt she has laid out in a fairly simple but very effective plan. I loved the other colours of fabrics that she incorporated into the quilt. The setting blocks don't take away from the Tshirts at all.

Well done, Sherri and thank you so much for sharing!

Anne Hall's Special of the Week!

  sundial-varisations

We have a new special up from the fabulous Anne Hall! Her kits are gorgeous and she is always available for advice and help if you are confused or stuck. I personally have been both. LOL

Sundial, a paper pieced project from Quiltworx (68” x 68”)

The Sundial foundation papers and strip piecing process was designed to utilized strips in a fast, fun project that creates a dazzling 12 point medallion, reminding us of a Sundial. The quilt top is a great project for beginners, intermediate and advanced students, with all straight lined foundation strip piecing, and some very gradually curved piecing required for final assembly. It is compatible with Quiltworx 48-piece 2-1/2” strip set.

This kit comprises the pattern and foundation papers, and the original Quiltworx strip set, plus over 5 yards of your “other” fabrics (inner circle background, outer background, centre star points and centre circle, and binding).

BUT … your “other” fabrics can be your choice – take a look at the pictures to give you an idea of how different it can look!  If you want the kit, let me know what colours you would like, and I will FIRST send you a Quiltster mock-up using fabrics from over 400 bolts of beautiful batiks in the studio.  I won’t cut your extra fabrics until you are happy with your design. Choose one of the above colour ways or choose your own!

Normal price:  $285 + taxes

Special price:  $250 + taxes and shipping, which INCLUDES personal service to ensure you get a custom design, and ongoing support from Quiltworx Certified Instructor, Anne Hall.

The fabric is Cassandra by Robert Kauffman . It was a really fun quilt to sew and the first time I ever did appliqué. . The long arm quilting was done  by Debbie Mason .

Silly Moon Ruler Class

  a-beanie-set-sample

As you are probably well aware we have had to cancel the ruler class in May by Kellie from Silly Moon. Trying to figure out how to move forward has been challenging but  we are now ready to go!

Heather's Fabric Shelf will be the representative for Silly Moon Rulers in our area!! How exciting is that! The rulers are on the way so we are crossing our fingers they get here in the next week. Kellie is working hard at getting tutorials up onto her web page so you can all do your classes from  the comforts of your own home! She hopes to have everything ready to go by the end of May at the latest. I will keep you all posted.

In the meantime, anyone who signed up for the class has a few options open to them:
1. You may opt for a full refund.
2. You may opt to have your $35 paid put towards the purchase of Silly Moon rulers in our shop.
3. You may opt for a store credit to be used for anything in the shop.

If you signed up for the class I will be in contact with you all this week but wanted to give you a heads up and opportunity to think about which way will work the best for you. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this situation.
