Hero of the Week

The hero of the week this time is Irene Laird!
Irene is one of most favourite customers in the shop. Why? Because she is so pleasant every single time. She inspires us with her creations,makes us smile and is a good friend as well!
Irene is an inspiration to us all in how to see each day as a new day, be thankful for what we have and how to spread just a bit of happiness to everyone around her.
Thank you Irene....we are all so blessed to have you as one of ours!

Diana Hewins

Diana Hewins was in to long arm quilt her "Prelude" quilt.  She used a fairly simple panto called "Modern Twist" and glide thread that blended beautifully!

Donna Foreman

Donna Foreman was in to learn to use the long arm machine. She had this lovely quilt all pieced and ready to go! Quilting time? Only 2 1/2 hours and she was done! First time ever and she nailed it!

Fire Island Hosta

"Fire Island Hosta" quilt made by the talented Anne Hall. Quilted by Ardelle Kerr, Rose City Quilter. This was Anne's first time truly stepping out of her box with regard to colour. She was inspired after seeing the beautiful ombre fabric int he yellow and the black. she had no clear idea of what was going were, and the colour placement within the quilt evolved with the piecing.  This quilt remains as one of Anne's favourites.

Paradise in Blooms

Next up we have "Paradise in Blooms" made by Anne Hall. This quilt was also quilted by Ardell Kerr, Rose City Quilter.
Anne has this to say about this gorgeous quilt: "As a child , I remember that my favourite candy was Tootie Frooties. It wasn
t so much the sickly-sweet taste or the glue-like qualities of the candies that was the attraction - it was the gorgeous colours. I decided that this was the quilt that would forever remind me of those colours!"

Aurora

The third project made by Anne Hall is called "Aurora" by BeColourful Quilting.
The quilt is pieced by Anne Hall and quilted by Marlene Speed.
I just love the pattern and the quilting on this one. The sparkles are just amazing!

Call of the Wild

New "Call of the Wild" panels are in with coordinating fabrics! We just loved this one of the owl swooping through the night air. The cozy cabin the background just adds to the ambience. Available in store or online!

Is this not the cutest tote bag? A free pattern by Free Spirit it is simple to make and easily accomplished over the weekend.

The Making of Batiks

Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to whole cloth, or cloth made using this technique originated from Indonesia.
I have long been a lover of batik fabrics and the shop reflects that love of this gorgeous fabric. I really don't even seem to have a favourite in colours or styles. From the gorgeous clear colours to the rich deep tones and even the earth tones just thrill me to my toes. They can be a bit harder to hand needle with but I have found that some Thread Heaven and fine sharp needle solves that issue pretty good.
