News Hot Off the Shelf
May 2 - 9th
Happy Mothers Day!
‌
‌

Sylvia Chow

sylvia-chow-gamer-quilt ‌

Sylvia Chow was in to long arm quilt her huge quilt she made using gamer characters!

The quilt is all done in primary colours with a great deal of attention paid to each character. The castle is just amazing! I have never done a pixel quilt but may be tempted after seeing this one1

Sylvia chose to do this one with the computer design. The quilt is called Zelda with a edge to edge design "Creeping Fig" working out just perfect!

‌
‌

Gayle Makeiff

gayle-makeiff ‌

Gayle Makeiff brought her quilt in for us to quilt using our APQS Millie with the computer. Her quilt is all in warm country colours and a great lap size quilt just calling out to be snuggled with.

The design chosen was an edge to edge design called Bean Sprout which I had not seen used before. It is really effective on the quilt with a traditional look but a contemporary twist. Loved it!
Lori Dewart did the quilting and used Glide thread for perfect results!

Remember that you can bring your quilts in for us to quilt. The cost is $.03 cents per square inch. Take the length and x by the width x .03  and you will have the cost of the quilting done by us. We are at a 1 - 2 week turnaround currently.

Agnes Olsen

agnes-olsen-large-blue-log-cabin ‌

Agnes Olsen was in this week to long arm quilt her gorgeous scrappy blue quilt. Agnes just amazes me with how she can pull fabrics from her stash and make them work so perfectly every single time!

The rich deep blues combined with the clean crisp white gives a perfect finish to this gorgeous quilt. She chose to use the computer and with Bill's help. Agnes was thrilled with the result and I have to say this is one of my favourite quilts she has done here at the shop.

Thank you to Agnes for sharing your talents with us all. By the way Agnes....my birthday is in August.....LOL

‌
‌

Susan Green

susan-green-3 ‌

Susan Green was in to quilt her gorgeous quilt this week. It always makes me giggle when I see Susan come in with a green quilt. Obviously I don't get out much and find my humour in odd places....lol.

Susan used the computer with help from Lori Dewart for perfect results! She was just so thrilled with the professional finish she achieved.

Would you like to learn to use our APQS machine? If so we are booking into June now. The class is all day with you finish quilting a lap size quilt you would bring with you. Cost of the class is $150 and after that you will be charged $40 per hour. You can usually get through a lap quilt in about 2 hours. 250-376-7630

‌

Mary Jane Reid

mary-jane-rectangles ‌

Mary Jane Reid was in to quilt her beautiful Christmas quilt using the computer. With Bill's help she had a gorgeous finish to a gorgeous quilt.

Bill just loved this quilt and the quilting design was spot on. Design chosen was Asian Flow , which is one of my favourites. Glide thread makes it just so much easier with a professional finish.

Great to see Mary Jane get such an early start to the Christmas sewing. Well done and now I shall slink off to my corner like a slug......thank you Mary Jane so much! LOL

‌
‌

Kari Quintal

kari-quintal ‌

Kari Quintal was in to learn to use our APQS long arm machine. She took the course and with Bill's help got this beauty of a quilt all done!

Kari chose a Bumble Bee edge to edge design to work with this quilt. Glide thread colour called Dijon was perfect with it and the results were gorgeous. One of the most spectacular finishes!

Minky in an ivory white was the fabric chosen for the backing. When using Minky remember that there is stretch only one direction and you will want that stretch going across the quilt, not from top to bottom. This is because as it works it's way down the frame the backing is stretched and that is not a good thing. We want the backing to be stable.

Thank you to Kari for sharing all your enthusiasm with us and your amazing piecing skills! A job well done!
