Devona Hay

Devona Hay was so excited about her fantastic quilt finishes she just had to come show us all. Fabrics were purchased here but she did the piecing herself and the quilting she did with help from Lori Dewart.
She is holding her Aurora quilt done with Attic Windows pattern. The fabrics are just gorgeous! The larger quilt beside her is done using a line of fabrics called Drywall. I have no idea why it is called that. A simple pattern but so very effective! Love them both so much!
Thank you to Devona for sharing with us!

The snowman quilt is a Pearl Louise Design and is called The Hot Chocolate Club. The site for all of Pearl's work is http://pearllouisedesigns.com
Lori Dewart did the quilting on this one with perfect results! Julie was just thrilled when she came to pick up her quilt. Well done ladies on the piecing and the quilting!

Isobel Lamarche

Isobel Lamarche was in to pick up her quilt she had us long arm for her. I tend to the brights and traditional quilts but this one just really had the wow factor!
The tan background is actually a linen blend and is just gorgeous! I swear I want to make a neutral tone quilt one of these days. Her blend of tans, blacks and greys is absolutely spot on!
Lori Dewart did the quilting on this one and it looks amazing! Well done Isobel and thank you so much for sharing your quilt story with us all!

Rachel Berry brought 3 quilts in for us to long arm quilt for her.Good heavens this woman is like a machine! Seriously 3 quilts, Rachel? I can't get one table runner done. This year!!!!
There are 3 photos of Rachel with her quilts and they are gorgeous! The long arm quilting was done by Lori Dewart using the APQS Millie with computer. Speaking of the computer, does anyone know why on earth I didn't get the computer sooner? With perfect results every time and hundreds of designs to choose from, why would you not choose to use the computer?
Are you wanting to get some of your projects quilted? We are at a week to a week and half turnaround. To get an estimate of what your quilt will cost to be quilted : length x width x .03cents. You can just bring your quilt in with batting and backing 4" larger around or send an email to me at info@fabricshelf.ca

Rachel Berry with Quilt #3

Is is just me, but it seem like the neutral toned quilts are having a bit of burst of popularity? Rachel's was a bit different with a grey background but what an effective quilt pattern! The block design is called Card Trick and because of the strong colour contrast you can really see the design.
Thank you to Rachel for sharing your talents, creativity and you amazing energy with us all!

Silver Jubilee

Silver Jubilee celebrates 25 years of Maywood Studio grandeur with a collection of prints straight from the archives. Reimagined and rendered in sophisticated blues and skillfully highlighted with metallic silver, these fabrics are a modern interpretation of vintage favorites.
Now for the introductory price of $14.99 per meter!!! The strip rolls, fat quarter bundles and the kits are on for 25% off until further notice.Actually until we remember to put them back to the regular price....lol
These just came in this week and we are totally in love with them. We have the full line, which of course means Heather couldn't decide on which ones to order so she just gets them all, as well as strip rolls and fat quarter packs. The kits are also available as shown. The quilt finishes at 61" x 67" to make a stunning wall quilt, couch throw or bed quilt. I would make it bigger for the bed so it has a bit of a drop.
Find them in the shop or online at http://www.fabricshelf.ca

A new Manquilter....Because of Covid!

Justin Yong is a Toronto-based photographer whose work dried up when the pandemic hit last spring. With idle time on his hands, he borrowed a sewing machine from his mother and took up quilting. Now he makes elaborate, one-of-a-kind quilts with fabrics that he sources from across the city, and sells them on Instagram. Here, he tells Toronto Life how he developed his pastoral side hustle.
Read the story of how this enterprising young fellow turned to quilting and is making it is own! Fascinating story: https://torontolife.com/memoir/i-spend-10-hours-every-day-quilting-justin-yong-covid-job-swap/

New Contest!

We have a large stack of fruit and vegetable scraps that want to go to a new home. Some of the pieces are fairly large ..... as in fat quarter or larger. Some are smaller but very usable size. A customer had made a quilt using all the veggie and fruit prints and by the time she was done....she was done! She very kindly offered them to us to put in the newsletter to pass them on.
Just give your best guess as to how many different prints there are and win the whole bunch of them! Many of the fabrics are stacked up so I would suggest you don't try to count only what you see. I had to make it a little bit challenging! I will give you a hint.....More than 12 and less than 60. If we have more than one correct answer we will divide it up between the winners.
Contest closes next Friday June 4th at midnight. So I will be announcing the winner in the next newsletter! I will be posting this on the facebook page as well so you can enter as many guesses as you like.
You can send your best guesses in to the shop email at info@fabricshelf.ca
